Hard to really say which team was the greatest across all eras, but of the teams mentioned, I enjoyed watching the Nebraska dynasty the most. The Black Shirts and Tommie Frazier were a force. Remember that psycho they had, Christian Peter? He looked like he came out of a super max prison.

When this play happens:

There's no such thing as "almost losing".

Joe Burrow took his dick out and slapped bevo with it.

My Top 4 would be one team from each of the past 4 decades.. but even this would be debatable..

1990-1999
1995 Nebraska

2000-2009
2005 Texas

2010-2019
2019 Tigers

2020-today
2020 Gumps

I would put us #2 behind 01 Miami that decade but that's a good list. I don't think it's fair to omit pre-1990 teams but with recency bias it's probably impossible to include them. I still say 95 nebraska was the best college team I've seen in my lifetime.

whatever helps you sleep at night. You lsu fans sure are sensitive about this. You had a great team. Be happy about that.
This is all opinion. 19 lsu is never going to play 95 nebraska so it's silly to get so sensitive about it.

You realize the team MOST agree had the most talent of all time, 2001 Miami, barely beat Virginia tech, a 4 win team, by 2?

Let's watch HorninHouston turn himself into a pretzel.

How it started:

quote:

2001 Miami and 1995 Nebraska were better than all 4 of those teams.

quote:

Sorry I just can't put any team that almost lost to a horrible Texas team on the "best ever list".
They were a great team but not top 4 all time. Not even close.

quote:

Again, you almost lost to texas. A really bad texas. You had a great team. Just not top 4 all time.

quote:

The greatest team "ever" should beat a team that lost to KANSAS by more than 7. Yes I stand behind that. You must have been born in the last 15 years to omit teams like 01 miami and those nebraska teams.

So 2019 LSU can't be the best team ever because they "barely" beat Texas by 7, but 2001 Miami can be after escaping a 4 win team by less than a touchdown?

How it's going:

quote:

I'm not dissing your team overall. I think they were a great team. Probably the best in the last 10 years or so. I just don't think they belong in the top 4 all time. Just my opinion from watching CFB for a very long time.

Sure thing, sugartits.

as for my argument between 2019 LSU and Texas.. if that Texas team can stay within 7 points, the 2005 Texas team would beat you by 10+ points

That Texas team had the defensive backs to make “some” stops.. and “some” would be enough..

S Michael Huff
2005 Thorpe Winner
2006 1st Round - 7th overall

S Michael Griffih
2007 1st Round - 19th overall

CB Aaron Ross
2006 Thorpe Winner
2007 1st Round - 20th overall

CB Cedric Griffin
2006 2nd Round - 48th overall

CB Tarrell Brown
2007 5th Round

All played in the league for 6+ years

I have to admit I'm rolling at how sensitive lsu fans are about random people's opinions on a subject that's wildly subjective. I guess with a season like you just had it makes sense. I'll drop it. You clearly can't handle this discussion.

We'll never know. All I know is they are damn sensitive about this. I had no idea just how sensitive they are. It's odd. I don't care what anyone thinks about the 05 Texas team. It was a memorable year that ended with the best game I ever saw in person. What someone else thinks of that team matters not one iota.

LSU didn’t almost lose to Texas that year. lol. There was never a point in the 2nd half when Texas had the ball that one score would beat LSU.

Name me another team that had to beat 3 Top 5 teams in the final 3 games of the season to win a National Championship. LSU also had to beat a Top 5 ranked Alabama on the road in November. That’s 4 Top 5 ranked teams LSU had to beat from November on to win the title.

Doesn't have the most talented college football team ever to exist so the picture is crap.

Army 1945

Easily the greatest collection of college football players on one team that's ever happened.

There isn't a close second.

If you don't know why Army's 1945 team had basically all the talented players in 1945, you need to go back to school.

2019 LSU beat 7 top-10 ranked opponents.

2005 Texas? 3.

In 2019, LSU had to beat Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia, the teams that had combined to play for the last 4 playoff championships.

Not a single team LSU played in 2019 had the ball with the chance to take a lead in the 4th quarter.

Joe Burrow holds the record for touchdowns in a single season at the P5 level, and is 3rd in single season passing yards, barely beat out by 2 texas tech QB's.

LSU played better defenses all year than that Texas team. LSU would have rolled by 2 scores.

95 Nebraska.

Their physicality and strength would hold up against any of the other contenders. They were just different.

05 Texas is an all time team. But yes, anyone with a brain can see that playing hypotheticals about who would beat who is pretty foolish. Only real comparison you can make is the SOS both teams played and 2019 LSU wins that in a landslide.

These “what team would beat who” arguments are beyond moronic though.

They would have rolled 2005 Texas but doesn’t mean 2005 Texas wasn’t a great team
