It wasnt much worse than many championship teams, it was just all in a two or three day window because of the late NCG.

Look at the Alabama draft speculations and how that dragged out and got everyone pumped just to knock them down.
It's probably a good thing it was over relatively quick for LSU and the fans. It would have been worse to have it drag out too much longer; if only because you know there would have been such speculation and "confirmed" sources that would have pissed off so many people.

Despite all if the losses to personnel, the state of the program is in a good place. We will replace our assistant coaches with solid hires, and O has been putting together some great recruiting classes. I don’t expect another 15-0 season, but 10-2 is the floor for me. The culture at LSU has changed. You can see it clear as day since O took over.

LSU collapsed itself into a 15-0 season with Ed O. He was supposed to be the worst thing to happen to LSU football since Curly Hallman. So there's that. And Orgeron finished with 9 wins even without Burrow or Brady in 2017. If that's a collapse, I'll take it.
