Reality is men’s basketball does suffer, because there’s only so much cash to go around.

But… baseball is not an issue of money. It’s an issue of a very poor portal class that is underachieving based on expectations. LSU had, on paper, a top 3 transfer class. LSU is just a bad team this year. Can’t hit, can’t pitch, and can’t field. It is what it is.

You seem to be a voice of seriousness in this thread, whose premise I do not understand. Ya'll won the title last year. You're having an 'off' year, esp by LSU's standards.

But apparently your program is done for - cause 'Kiffin'.

What am I missing?

This is exactly what I’m expecting to see. If it doesn’t happen I will find something to blame it on.

It’s what Ole Miss has started to do. Our baseball program is still decent but it’s no longer elite. The vast majority of our resources go to football and basketball. And that’s honestly not a bad thing to do. That’s where the money is at.

This logic and reason you're bringing have no place on this board. Absolutely none.

For any university ... the only reason to even field a sports team is advertising. Because winning on the field drives up enrolment. Pure and simple.

So then it becomes a numbers game. There are three seasons in college sports ... Fall / Winter / Summer. Football is king, but expensive. Everybody in a Power Four conference gets that sweet, sweet conference check for football. I've seen nothing leading me to believe that anybody will go All In on football only though. Anybody doing Football wants to win in at least one other season.

Now, Winter ? A logical alternative ... but you can win in Spring with Softball and also knock off 25 womens scholarships towards that Title IX limit.

My point ? Any logical AD is going to decide to win at Football ... maybe a Winter or Spring sport ... or maybe something in Fall, Winter, and Spring.

But there is ZERO reason to try to win at both Mens and Womens basketball. No reason to try to win at Baseball and Softball. And no reason to support ANY other sport in the Fall.

Alabama did exactly that on their last hire. No one, including most LSU fans, denies that Alabama took a pass on Lane. What a weirdly delusional creature you are.

as a LSU fan, I'd gladly sacrifice relevancy in other sports if that means we are in the CFB playoff at list every other year.

I think most other fans of other schools would say the same.

At least they are dumping money into football. Tennessee’s AD loves dumping money into womens basketball and they still suck. That was a big problem for Vitello when he was here and I don’t blame him.
