I am liking the parity. Not like the clock rules

I disagree and still believe the teams that evaluate/develop the top HS guys will have sustainable success. The portal is hit/miss, it will create an element of uncertainty each year in CFB but I doubt teams will stack 10+ wins seasons YOY with 20% or higher of starters coming from the portal. Those that recruit HS at the highest level and fill a few gaps each year with portal guys will have the most success over time.

Uh, you know the courts can overrule legislation passed by Congress too. Which they would if something got through Congress, and that’s not a given because there are just as many people loving the changes as there are old-school fans bitching about them on message boards.

IMO there is no turning back from this. It’s done. We adjust to it or stop watching.

The clock rules, the barrage of commercials and the overly flag throwing refs are ruining CFB.

Honest to god it feels like it's rigged now. Please go back to the old rules and stop throwing flags over absolutely NOTHING. Football is a contact sport ffs.

I think you’ll see that loosen up some. Been some poor decisions on tackles early on this year. Maturity can be lacking early in the season.

Yes, same with hoops. Whole new crew every season. But the NIL and portal are spreading the talent wealth which is good. There's nothing stopping a program from getting good at retaining players.

They already do. Just like they own everything else. Including our politicians and political system.

College Football has always been a blue blood sport. Exhibit A is the last college to celebrate a first-time national championship was Florida in something like 1996. Exhibit B: every single year we go into the season knowing that only 6 SEC teams have a shot at actually winning the conference.

The portal absolutely will change that. The SEC is down this year, and the portal is a major reason why. It will become harder and harder to build a program in any kind of traditional manner. If he can win three more games, Deion Sanders is going to win the Bear Bryant award this year. What has he done? Pay attention, because that is where college football is headed.

I'm already halfway to option two. It's on in the background while I do something else. I just don't care anymore. And that's as someone who falls on the players side and agrees that they got a raw deal for decades.

How can the whole sport be headed there? Getting players is a zero sum game.

This coming after a team repeated for the title.

You don't need even close to as many players for a solid starting basketball roster and basketball can be more of a "guy takes over" sport. If you're losing half the starters on next year's line because Central Florida is offering immediate starting time and a fatter NIL check, it seems to me you'll wind up with parity, but just the kind where everyone is equally bad.

How do you retain players? The only sure way now is money and with everyone able to buy players equally now, few have limitless cash and the price will only keep going up.

IMO the biggest reason fans are so upset about this stuff is that in doing this, the one group whose interests weren’t considered at all were … the fans.

And I’ll follow up by pointing out that the Supreme Court decision that opened the door for this was 9-0, liberals and conservatives unanimous.

Of course not, they've never given a shite about the fans. Other than how to extract more and more money from them.

Money, yes. Same as it always was, only now legal. The historic cheaters are the only ones unhappy about NIL.

Never thought that the phrase "haveing to re-recruit your own players each year" would be a thing...
