Miles and Saban both had massive egos.

The difference is Saban wanted to win more than he wanted to be right.

It also helped that Saban was a defensive coach.

A lot harder for an offensive coach to change their offensive philosophy IMO.

While this is true in a way, Les Miles was somehow a bigger retard than the Mizzou fans posting in this thread. He always went conservative and it always cost him.

Yes but there’s multiple examples where Saban teams just found a way. Luck and the other team not capitalizing is a fundamental component when two opposing forces are facing off. Someone has to lose.

You literally could just never fully count a saban coached Bama team out of a ball game. It’s a component you just rarely see in football.

I had forgotten about that game. Bama just crushed LSU's hope so many times over the years. Les Miles was the king of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Is LSU the team that's going to benefit the most from Saban's retirement from bama?

I’m assuming he means the 2011 championship rematch game in 2012.

Yeah saban was only blown out once during his bama career, against Clemson. I remember being in shock watching that game and realizing there wouldn't be a come back this time.

Enlighten us on all these blowouts that you seem to insinuate he missed.

2018 Clemson was the only loss by 21+, everything else was 15 and under.

The Yeldon screen hurts more than anything. Even 21-0.

That single handedly made Les Sabans bitch for years.

Two touchdowns is a blowout.

Especially a situation like that Alabama-Utah game where IIRC Bama literally never had the ball with a chance to tie or win after the first two drives.

Utah led by at least 10 for the vast majority of that game.

Wasn’t this the same game?

Haven’t forgotten.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on that. Never have I thought a 2 td loss was a blowout no matter the team.

You can be dominated and lose by 14, but I still don’t call that a blowout.

With two scores you mathematically still have a chance, TD then onside kick and TD. 21+ it’s truly over, that’s a blowout to me.

That’s a gross generalization dependent entirely on how the game plays out. Even the 44-16 score against Clemson in 2019 is misleading as Alabama led in every major statistical category until Clemson’s final, clock-bleeding drive of the game.
