I love Florida being out of top 10. I want the players to feel like they have to earn it next year.

Calling bullshite on that. Talented? Sure. But Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida are still more talented than you are, and you could make a case for Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss being equal to or near the same level talent as well.

You are a fricking idiot.

So Mr. Pig Flu, tell me the last time that Arkansas had 3 straight top 25 recruiting classes..... otherwise, you are the fricking idiot.

Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida are certainly more talented. It's arguable that Auburn, Tennessee, and South Carolina have more as well. Recruiting rankings are not every thing, but they are an accurate gauge, and all those teams have out-recruited the Hogs the last four years.

Honestly, I don't think Auburn should be in any preseason polls. Too many holes still, I expect to see some love in the 2011 polls but not until then.

Yep. Our group of freshmen/sophomores will not improve AT ALL on defense..

I'll take our receiver corps over that of any other SEC team. If they were shitty or just so-so, we wouldn't have had the kind of year we had offensively. As for Bama, Florida, and all the other teams (except maybe LSU - their receivers are always good) listed by RandyMarsh... I just don't think they're leaps and bounds ahead of our guys. Not trying to start shite with the 5 million Bama posters on the Rant, but their receivers weren't exactly dominant last night. And Florida's offense wasn't quite as badass this year as they were last year. Yes, those teams won more games than we did, but I don't think it was because their receivers were just out there owning mofos. We leaned very heavily on our receivers, and they definitely delivered the majority of the time. I suppose some people just always have it in their heads that lil' ole Arkesaw can't possibly have better players (at any position) than any other SEC team.

And I'm sure everyone else's offense and defense will digress too

1) Recruiting rankings are nothing but a rough indicator as to the talent of a team

2) What in the hell do recruiting rankings as a whole have to do with the talent of a WR corp? Hint: nothing.

There is no way Arkansas is in the bottom half of the league in WR talent. It's one of the best group of WR's, if not the best, in the SEC.

Well Alabama leans more on their running game and subsequently their backs more than you do and Florida uses their receivers in multiple roles so you can't look at just their raw receiving numbers.

We beat the shite out of both Auburn and South Carolina on the field this year. If that makes them more talented, so be it.

We went to overtime with LSU....if that makes them definitively more talented, so be it.

I'd agree with Bama and Florida, and agree that typically UGA is as well. I'm not sure I'd agree that UGA will be more talented next year, though.

I probably should have been more specific in that post. I wasn't saying that you don't have talented receivers - you do have that - but receivers don't make up the body of a team. There are 5 teams definetely more talented than you just in the SEC and three more than can make a case. You have more talent than Vandy, Mississippi State, and Kentucky, but that doesn't mean you deserve anywhere near a #16 ranking.

That's more reasonable. I thought you were saying our WR's were no better than that.

I'd still disagree, though. Bama and UF, sure.

But from there it gets very murky and we could very well be the next most talented team next year.

Who are the 5 teams that are definitely more talented than us? I'm guessing you're thinking Bama, FL, LSU, Auburn and SC. Of those teams, Bama is the only team that we honestly just couldn't hang with this year. I thought the FL game was going to be similar, but that wasn't the case. LSU was a really close game (as it has been for years now), and we beat the shite out of both AU & SC. How on earth did our inferior/less-talented team even stay in any of those games, let alone win any of them? frick the recruiting rankings. Why doesn't anyone wait until a kid proves it on the field in a college game before they anoint him their team's new freakishly good impact player and/or savior of their program?

Having "talent" doesn't necessarily mean on-field success. Coaching is still one part of the equation. I like our chances.

Nutt recruit. That automatically makes him a negative 3 star and wouldn't start on a SWAC team.

Perhaps what I SHOULD have said was:

"We lose LESS significant contributors than most every other SEC team due to Nutt's horrid recruiting."

Does that work better for you?

Florida, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia for sure. Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss can make a case for it.

Also, just because you beat a team, doesn't mean you are more talented than them - upsets happen.

I wouldn't call wins over Auburn, SC, or maybe even LSU (since it's always close) upsets. If you've beaten a team more than once or twice in five years, it's not much of an upset. Upsets are rare treats for a team. Ole Miss beating FL last year was an upset. UL-Monroe beating Alabama was an upset. So, talent-wise, I don't believe that more than half of the conference is a whole hell of a lot greater than us... especially not Auburn or SC, regardless of what their recruiting classes were ranked. Call me a batshit crazy homer if you want, but I think we're a pretty talented team. You can keep trying, but you're not going to persuade me to think otherwise.
