I've been pouring over tons of stats this week ahead of the game, as well as having watched DeBoer and co since their time at Washington. There's nothing wrong with them. They are elite coaches and have done a very good job in a tough situation - following the GOAT.
I think there's a number of people who would agree with me that a coaching staff of all time greats couldn't dominate in this era. It's no knock on Bama or DeBoer. Even Kirby is finding it difficult to clearly stay on top.
Looking at tons of stats, Bama has been very impressive in a number of ways against one of the toughest schedules in the country, not just team overall team rank but offensive/defensive unit ranks.
I was hoping this wasn't going to be the case but the stats forced me to begrudgingly acknowledge that Bama is really good and this game is going to be a battle.

Lane Kiffin is Eli Drinkwitz in disguise. Killer vs. inferior competition. Loses vast majority of games against teams with equal or more talent.
Prove me wrong
Break down the rosters of every game against ranked competition and let us know how many times Kiffin had the superior team but lost. IOW, tell us which games he was supposed to win but didn't. You can get the Kentucky home game out of the way, so that's 1 over 6 years.

It was a weird hire from the start.
Their top 5-6 candidates all turned them down, it was the best they could do. I did think it was funny they replaced the coach who lost to Michigan in the CFP with the other coach who lost to Michigan in the CFP
