The Committee has gotten one severely wrong every year so far.

Michigan State. That team was not good. It was decent. Alot of other teams could have at least contended.

Florida State. What the hell were they even doing ?

I get they want to go with a undefeated, but when that undefeated is pathet come on.

Michigan State won the Big Ten. If the playoff committee is putting a premium on conference champions now, who else gets in? A two loss Stanford?

So did the BCS. So did the bowl system before. It's always been the goal.

I honestly didn't know if you were talking about the CFB playoff committee or the baseball selection committee

So you're pretty much saying you'd be ok with not letting a one loss SEC champion into the playoff? Think before you type.

Deserving and good are two different things. What's the point of playing the games if the results don't matter

The point of the playoff is to decide who is the best, Michigan state wasn't. The playoff did its job

Man I really think Stanford got screwed. They basically sent the message last year that scheduling nobodies is better than playing good opponents

I agree, but I don't think you add Stanford at the expense of Michigan State. In my opinion OU should have been booted for Stanford. OU was beaten by a shite house Texas team and didn't have to play a conference championship game.

ETA: If you're going to play in the worst conference in football and not have championship game, you better make damn sure you go unblemished.

Crazy how a sport that usually only produces 2-3 legit title contenders each year occasionally has a weak link in a 4 team playoff field.

MSU beat Oregon, OSU, Michigan, and Iowa. They had only one loss. You put a two loss Stanford over them?

Yes. Stanford was the better team. They should not be penalized for scheduling a good team out of conference. Stanfords SOS was 16, compared to MSU at 53. The message sent was that if Stanford schedules the school for the blind game 1, they get in. Stupid line of thinking IMHO

Stanford lost to northwestern (Big 10) and Oregon.

Michigan state won the Big 10, and beat Oregon.

What are you talking about? Stanfords best wins were USC who lost to Wisconsin in the bowl game (another team mich state beat) and Notre dame who lost to Ohio state (another team Mich state beat)

Stanford's SOS was 37 spots higher than MSU. If Stanford schedules California State tech A&M game 1, they are in the playoff

You're saying they shouldn't be penalized for scheduling and losing to Northwestern while MSU shouldn't be applauded for scheduling and beating Oregon? The same Oregon team that beat Stanford? Don't bring up Iowa in the rose because we are talking regular season to decide who is in the playoff.

I am saying a team with a SOS of 16 compared to 53 is a big difference. The only argument you have for MSU is the 1 loss compared to 2. I think the committee should be able to use more than just that. It was clear to me last year Stanford was better than MSU. I would have put them in. It isnt a travesty MSU got in over them, but it isnt what I thought was the 4 best teams

Also the good team you say Stanford shouldn't be penalized for scheduling only played two good teams outside of Stanford. Scores? 38-0, 40-10 losses.
