Ehh, beating Bama isnt the lone factor. Ole Miss beat us back to back and they didn’t win shite. South Carolina beat us and they didn’t win shite. Auburn has beaten us and not won shite. Beating Bama will help, but the voters gotta do the right thing and put them in if their only loss is to Bama.
Solid take. Agree entirely. While beating Alabama is the largest hurtle, it’s not the entire race. You have to also beat the East champ if you win out. And even more challenging than that is beating Alabama twice. You know they’ll get to the playoffs with only one loss. And Saban isn’t losing twice and missing out entirely. Gotta beat them twice in one year to win the gold.

How have y'all managed to parlay your level of resources into being further from your most recent national title than aforementioned title was to Lincoln's House Divided speech when he was still a senator?
It's a pretty amazing accomplishment I definitely tip my cap.
What does the one have to do with the other, you dumb frick? I am betting my 20-inch dick you have never even set foot on a college campus.

A&M hasn't had the level of resource advantage we currently have until a few years ago when the stadium was rebuilt and we got the revenue boost from it. Now the infrastructure is there. We have the SEC TV money which everyone here does. We have a stadium that is a straight up cash machine. Most of all we are seeing the benefits of the first 10k plus classes of the late 80's onward hitting prime donor years. Essentially you have A&M now as one of the largest schools in the country while also having average graduate salaries just below Ivy level. Mix in some uber rich guys and oil money and A&M is positioned to have a lot of money for a long haul.
Texas has always had money but they have been very foolish with it since they decided to get rid of Mack. In the late '90s they went big for Mack and gave him great facilities and everything he wanted and it paid off huge. Now you still have a lot of money but are deeply divided internally and have a toxic reputation after some ugly coaching searches and uglier firings. You did the same thing with DKR that you did with Mack btw, ran off the golden goose.

A&M will continue to improve . The SEC’s largest student body. Great facilities, good coaching. It’s the rest of the SEC that is going to suffer at the expense of adding Texas and OU. You can’t match the money.

You can mark it down, every team in the West division is getting one mulligan. Any SEC team coming out of the West this season with only one loss is getting into the playoff, based on what I saw in week one.
The fact that TAMU was left out last season instead of Ohio State was criminal.

Notre Dame getting in above A&M was far worse than Ohio State. They literally had just gotten their arse handed to them in what was effectively a playoff game in the ACC Title game. No one expected them to compete with Bama and they didn't. You can argue of course that A&M lost big to Bama but that was in Week 2 (on the road at Bama and with Waddle scoring 2 TDs along with key turnovers from A&M) and A&M had improved drastically since then so A&M had as much of a shot as anyone. Notre Dame had been exposed and they still got in.

Like aggressor said, ND getting in was probably a bigger slap in the face. But yeah honestly A&M probably should have been ranked #4, with ND/osu having to make a better case to jump us, not the other way around.
Is what it is.

I don't know that I would go that far. The big boys can at least match OU for sure and that's enough, the key is being able to match up on facilities and coaching salaries and the SEC TV money along with their other donations makes the difference negligible. For instance it is not much of an issue for a $150 million budget vs a $200 million but $100 million vs $200 million is a problem.

Ohio State won 6 games during the regular season and CCG. And 2 of those wins they struggled, mightily. The playoff committee loves to come out week after week and talk about how close some of these 4th seeds are in comparison. We are supposed to come away feeling that it was just splitting hairs at times as to who gets in.
Not last season. The Buckeyes played half a season and got in on name only. That's why the playoff committee has lost credibility they aren't getting back. And that's why the groundswell for a 12 team expanded playoff.

I love troll threads. Honest question, and I am not trolling, just asking.
Do you consider Auburn an elite program right now?
What does a program have to do to be considered an elite program?
