0-4 in ACC but beat a damn good Alabama team. I'm inclined to believe it really is the Gus Bus and weird first game juju. FSU is a bizarre program.

Always a great night when FSU goes down.

Agreed...but even better if FSU and Miami go down on the same day.

Breaking in a new QB on the road against a talented team and an OC who lives to beat Bama.
Don't forget that 2014 Ohio State lost 35-21 at home to 6-6 VT.

I like to compare it to Ohio State losing to a 7-6 Virginia Tech (at home) in 2014. And Ohio State went on to win the whole fricking thing. College football is weird sometimes...

Like UF, there's enough talent at FSU to beat anyone in the country at home.

Piss poor job of preparation by the entire coaching staff. It happens, even to the best of coaches. Still head scratching and inexcusable.

I remember when Nick Saban would have all off season to prepare for opening night.

When I saw that booger eating Malzahn on the sideline, I knew we were beat.

FSU and Malzahn staked their whole season on beating BAMA.

It’s not that surprising. Gus is a streaky play caller and he was on a heater that day. We had a first time starter at QB. The team was apparently way too confident considering FSU’s record the year before.

Nah, it was typical Gus Malzahn.

This. Gus beat bama. Incredible gameplan out of the gate and perfect timing as a season opener against a confused team

Ty’s first start on the road at FSU stadium
FSU was still pissed about being left out of playoffs
They circled that game and it meant more. New staff not realizing what they’re walking into
The players acted like after that first drive FSU was just going to roll belly up and accept their fate. What this team had to realize is they’re not as good as what Bama used to be. Teams aren’t scared of the script A and if they want teams to be they have to earn that themselves.

Makes no sense but it seems to have caused us to reflect and refocus. Doubt we’d be doing paying as well now had we won that game.

Bama had no film on this FSU team. They replaced virtually their entire lineup, with more than 50% of their team not even on the roster last year, and they had a new coordinator on both sides of the ball.

That is a game prep nightmare.

Then we came out and played like shite on top of all that.

What about when he smokes teams with relatively equal rosters like against us or LSU? Every coach has warts, but I've been impressed with DeBoer. I wonder about his defenses long term, though.

If deboer had a competent DC it would be really really scary. Womack is just so frustrating.
Held the vols to just 20 but Alabama was actually outgained as far as yardage in both passing and rushing. Also more first downs. If I were playing Alabama I'd run the ball and only throw when I had to. Tennessee dropped probably 5-6 last night. So Womack is getting out schemed every week. We been fortunate to have a really good offense to make up the difference

GUS is a good OC but when it is the first game no way to play for him. After FSU won that game others teams studied what he wants to do with FSU and were able to shut it down. He is like a one hit wonder.

I just don't understand how they looked so overwhelmed in that game.

When we see which teams are going to Atlanta, we won't even remember what happened in Week 1.
