And only has a chance because he gets FOULED on the three.

Was the right call in hindsight. Kid has to make free throws though.

No. Game would be in OT.

He had a step on the defender and would’ve sent them to OT at worst. It was a horrible decision.

I'd assume he thought he was going to get blocked from behind and panicked or thought they were down three. Really the only two logical things.

Thought they were down 3??

Several comments:
1. I can't believe that AU players let him drive to the basket without any resistance. I can ONLY assume the AU players thought they were ahead by 3 and were willing to concede a 2 point play.
2. I've never seen a player give up a layup/dunk with time running out in a two point game for a contested three point play. I can't believe it.
3. NMS got lucky on the called foul. I realize the AU play touched him but there was some flopage going on.
4. NMS has no one to blame for this loss. They blew it. Congrats AU

Yes. Meaning he may have thought his team was down 3 and not 2. It's happened. Players get caught up in the moment and lose their heads for a second. All it takes. My senior year in high school I fouled thinking we had one to give. We didn't. Tied game lost in OT.

Our team was thoroughly confused the last 3 minutes of the game. Played well the rest of the game. We have to tighten that up. I think it could have been the altitude finally catching up with them. Good thing is another day to get acclimated and those flat-landers from Kansas will be in the same ship.

It’s like he was scared to finish. Very bad mistake. That will haunt him for a long time

Down by 2. Takes the ball coast to coast, drives the basket and has a fairly easy/open layup w/ around 4 seconds left but instead passes it to the 3-point arc (passes it from around the inside semi-circle), player misses the 3 but is fouled, misses 2/3 free throws. Loses by 1 in regulation.

If he goes hard to the rim for a dunk/layup, I bet the AU player fouls him. Then, he ties the game with a chance to win with the FT.
