With all of the annual Big 12 expansion talks heating up again, seems that the athletic director of Southern Miss is attending the AAC basketball tournament. How do Ole Miss and Miss State fans feel about the possibility of USM getting an opportunity to be in a better conference?

It's kinda sad how OM seems to be afraid of playing southern miss when everyone else plays small in state schools all the time

southern miss is not that small. and it attracts a lot of new Orleans athletes. playing ole miss would be a big plus for them in recruiting. I can see ole miss' reluctance.

I had to make the thread seem somewhat of an SEC related post or everyone would have been telling me to use the More Sports Board. Figured the Ole Miss and Miss State folks were okay with the post if USM were referred to in such a manner. Nothing personal.

When was the last time Auburn played Troy or UAB and are those on the future schedule?

After the Jacksonville State game last season, they probably aren't in a big hurry to play other in state schools.

We have literally played Texas 118 times. You haven't played southern miss since the 80s

no offense taken. i'm sure the thread title appealed to msu and om posters. they like to treat us as little brother, which we are, but it just seems to come from insecurity.

I'm sure y'all would've played 118 times if y'all were in the SEC the whole time /s

Ole Miss enrollment at Oxford is 18,000 and USM enrollment at Hattiesburg is almost 15,000 and has a nicer football stadium, although smaller capacity.

I always attended when Southern Miss used to play Ole Miss every season. It was usually a dogfight.

We'd probably have played them once since the 80s. And even then it's not really the same thing since Texas isn't a non p5 school

More power to them if it happens. I have no problem with USM. It should zero effect on either State or Ole Miss.

Kudos to MSU for agreeing to play Southern Miss.

Would like to see OM resume the series also.

I know many of our Ole Miss brethren like to say we scheduled them after they finished 0-12, but that series was agreed upon when USM was winning 12 games in 2011.

If they can improve their standing by moving by getting more conference revenue, good on them. I don't know when we play them again in football but we normally play them in Jackson every year in baseball. Not sure about basketball.
