A&M was 4-0 against Texas back when I went to school. It was glorious
Texas A&M University avoided the 'death penalty' Wednesday but was placed on probation for five years by the NCAA Committee on Infractions for major violations in its football program committed from 1990 to 1992.
Texas A&M's football team also will be excluded from playing in a bowl game or appearing on television during the 1994 season. The NCAA did not take away any football scholarships, however, or place limits on the recruiting program.
Texas A&M is only the third school to receive five years' probation since 1988 and one of three schools to receive seven NCAA sanctions since 1952.
The Infractions Committee cited A&M for a lack of institutional control regarding the jobs program, the same as in the 1988 case.
Swank said the school knew there had been problems in 1988 and should have provided more monitoring and control of the program.

JS sure had Texas number. RC did as well until Mack Brown.

I see RC’s down fall was when Texas hired Brown AND OU hired Stoops. Was just the perfect storm.

The funny thing is I honestly think RC had the formula to turn it around with McNeal, but we fired him for Franchione.
Dumbest move in A&M football history. RC still had one of the best defenses I've ever seen

Texas & Texas A&M both ranked 8/52 from 1960-2011.
Average margin of 19 ppg for all 8 games.
Only 1 by 10 pts or less (A&M 1999 by 4)
Higher ranked 7-1 (Texas 1974)
Home team 6-2 (Texas 1995, 1977)
All of that ^^ hurt the game from a national point of view.. Hardly ever both ranked, but then 1 team would lay an egg and the games weren't close. I was tuned in either way.
The problem usually was simple. When 1 team was good, the other seemed to be down. It will be interesting to see if that trend continues or if that will finally change after all these years.

Rarely have both ever been good at the same time. I'm interested to see if things have changed on that front.

Agreed, I don’t think he ever had a losing record but aggie powers that be freaked out with the rise of Texas and the dirt burglars and canned him prematurely.

Most definitely.. but the game also changed a lot shortly after that.. Y'all should have hired Urban Meyer. A decent number of you wanted it to happen, especially after he beat you guys in 2004.

I’d actually prefer y’all to turn it around. Makes for better games and beating up bad teams doesn’t actually help make your team better.

It is one of the largest ironies in A&M football history that we had the opportunity to hire Meyer, and didn't do so.

Has anyone seen the ticket prices for Texas vs Texas A&M?
Pent-up demand. I’m so happy to have them back on our schedule.

I think Elko will be a lot better than many think. I've been impressed with most of his hires, and I really like his work in the portal after Fisher's mercs bailed.

You will enjoy your experience far more than the UGA fans competing with European royalty and millionaires/Billionaires coming to Austin for F1 for things like airfare and hotel rooms. In any case, a week gives you plenty of time to experience all the food and whatever else, and do Gameday at your own pace.
I bought 8 UT/UGA tickets in the upper deck of one end zone (the opposite end from the good beer garden LOL) for $315 each. 4 of us from Georgia, 1 from North Alabama (Tide Fan) and 1 from Central Florida (Gator Fan) and their 2 daughters one who is a UTSA grad and the other a Texas Tech grad. They have all promised me they would pull for UGA but I suspect the stinking Gator ain't got it in him to do.
They live about 45 miles or 8 hours south of Austin (if you know you know) so we plan on spending a week drinking and dancing in the Hill Country, maybe the best place on the planet for drinking and dancing. Looking forward to it. We will probably drive because airfare right now is outrageous. We are staying with them but rooms are also scarcer than hen's teeth....
I don't recall ever paying more for a regular season ticket but I have UGA season tickets so I can usually get away game tickets from someone in our circle. May get some better seats for the UT game but I doubt they'll be any cheaper. I sold our ND tickets for WAAAAAAYYYYYY more than $315 a few years ago. Same general seats except we are on about the 15 yard line on the home side.

I still can’t believe they put GA vs TX on the same weekend as F1. So stupid..
AirBNB still has some pretty good deals if anyone is looking for that weekend.

Stick it to Aggie fans in 2025.

Are we sure these ticket prices are face value? Meaning, the Texas A&M Athletics Dept is making the money here.
This is a valid question. Stubhub guarantees the seats.. how could anyone but A&M be selling tickets at this point? Or at least originally.. they might all be scalpers at this point.
I don’t fault A&M at all for trying to make some money off the game (if that is what they are doing). These would be the ticket prices either way, they might as well make the money instead of a scalper. Just curious how the process works.
