How pissed is Alabama going to be when more billionaires from non traditional schools buy teams through the portal and their teams make the playoffs (and win?).

Lots of oil money out there.

True, but imagine Stanford… how many billionaire grads do they have?

Are they really "elite"?
Oklahoma used to look "elite" a lot of years in that conference and they'd get their arse kicked when they played anyone.

The New York Yankees have been proving this for decades.

Tech's got some real first line talent on defense. What they don't have is a lot of depth. If they played an SEC schedule, that would show up more.

True, but all it takes is one dude and dumping $53mm (I think that was the TTU number from the Wall Street journal), which is not a lot for even single-digit billionaires.

This is how it’s done. You think the LA Dodgers win the World Series as a poor team. Tech has shown everyone the way.

Yet didn't TT lose to Arizona St?

LSU's big tech guy in Silicon Valley paid all the buyouts and Lane's new contract, so maybe?

Just saying that historically you couldn’t do what is being done now. Had to have a big name, NFL pipeline, maybe some bagmen sure. Now you can outright buy players. There are plenty of historically crappy teams that have some absurdly wealthy alumni that can directly buy players whereas before they were investing in facilities and locker rooms (T Boone Pickens at Okst is a good example).
