This should go well with the money folk.

The complaint reportedly alleges that Black students have been denied the full university experience because the song is an official part of that experience, being played after all sporting events "despite its racially offensive origin, context and meaning."

For the sake of football and the remaining conservatives at the heart of of Texass athletics I hope this effort fails.

I've read the words to the fight song...I don't get it...where is it in the lyrics where it's racist? I'm curious.

It isn't. Just a stint by a bunch of edgy kids wanting to feel relevant.

It's not just woke students who filed this complaint. It was the Texas chapter of the NAACP.
So, to recap: The NAACP says that the University of Texas illegally allows a hostile workplace for black students.

This is pathetic...and I am not talking about Aggy posters this time.

Apparently they researched the örigins of the song and found out there was some racist context 100 years ago like just about anything if you look back through a 2021 lens.
It's amazing how hard people have to work now to be a victim and feel like they are marching with MLK over imagined microaggressions that trigger them.

The song/lyrics themselves are def not racist. The issue that the students (and I assume staff) bring up is the origin of the "eyes of Texas" is traced back to Robert E Lee (in some way) and the song was regularly performed in black face in the early 1900's.
Take that for what you will.

The student body at KANSAS makes the woke dope jokes in Austin look almost sane by comparison.
The Kansas student government president and student senate were tweeting out "death to America" last week. Is that the kind of intellect AUA member schools have? They are IN America!

It is very obvious you have never worked on the railroad all the live long day!
We need to send you to indoctrination classes immediately. You are not SEC ready.

Which I get to a degree. But the song has been song at Texas events with zero explicit or implicit racism for several decades. Is there never a point where it gets separated from whatever checkered past it has?

This is a last ditch effort by a small group of students that are being supported by extremely racist professors.
The school gave them the middle finger and our whole stadium (including the team) sang the song with enthusiasm on Saturday.
We also have a donor led conservative think tank coming to campus soon. The good guys are fighting back and are winning.

Did they play it after the game on Saturday?

Again, it was the NAACP that lodged this complaint. Why is this fact being ignored? It wasn't just a handful of students messing around on their computer. This is the NAACP, along with the students, that filed this complaint.
(Look. I agree that it's absurd. But absurd is where we are in race discussions today. It where sociology professors through their influence on culture have taken us. And it IS mainstream. It is where Ibram Kendi and Robin DeAngelo and their ilk have taken us.)

Also, that think tank will take up issues outside of our campus. Idea is to build a network of support for when these false claims are made. A&M had their own issues with the Sul Ross statue and LSU is under siege by the leftists.
This "think tank" will lend resources in a timely fashion to counteract these ridiculous protests and lies.

Did they file a complaint with the EEOC before they filed suit?
It looks to me like they failed to exhaust all administrative remedies before suing.
