If Saban wants a challenge before he retires, he should return home to West Virginia and try to win a title there. Winning a national title at a school like Texas where all you have to do is beat OU to make it to the title game is not exactly a challenge.

Sure buddy. Saban wants out of Alabama so bad but he can't find a school to give him a second chance. Carry on having your fun.

I don't get why it is so shocking to everyone that Texas and dozens of other schools want to hire Nick Saban. Why are people going nuts over the fact that someone from Texas called Saban's agent to see if he is interested? Saban's agent likely gets that same call monthly. Saban has no buyout, has had plenty of opportunities to leave, yet he hasn't.
It's a big deal because Texas is likely the only school, if any, that could back up enough dump trucks full of money in Saban's driveway to get him to leave Bama.

I don't doubt it. Sexton likes money, and when he receives a percentage, you'd have to be an idiot to think that he wouldn't try to angle Saban for one of the biggest raises in CFB history.

Absolutely. As soon as he told them to frick off and refused to retire they would've cut him loose. Because they certainly have the cash flow to do it and enough discontent among the fanbase that they'd willing go along.
And I mean that even if it wasn't Saban. That'd be if they had ANY viable option big enough to eclipse Mack. Unfortunately for them they've potentially caused enough of a clusterfrick in their program that some folks don't even want to touch it.

People love to talk about how much money Texas theoretically could dump on Saban's doorstep to get him to go there, but they never seem to like to talk about how much money Texas realistically would offer him, and whether Alabama would realistically be able to match it.
I understand that reality isn't as fun to talk about as fantasy, though.

All true. Also, the people fantasizing in this thread are ignoring just how bad today's report makes Texas look.
I can't help but think that they might have actually blown any chance they might have had with Saban.

I didn't say that now. All I said is that Sexton burns up the phones for the little fella. If you don't understand that, you don't understand Saban/Sexton/Coaching.

And this isn't about money, I will agree with you. It's about EGO and LEGACY. I would guess that unless he has a beef,or an itch, he stays. But if he has a beef or an itch, Texas or USC could work.
"Nick Saban, the first coach to win National Championships at three different schools" does have a certain ring to it, don't you agree? Tiny Screamer has an ego right ? He likes a challenge, right? So unless he CONTENT (like he ever is) why not EXPLORE options?

So does "Nick Saban, the first coach to win three national championships in a row," though.

I knew there was another reason to hate him.

I can guarantee you that if Texas is serious about Saban, they would pay him good NFL money to come there.

It's fricking Texas and they're rich as hell.
Don't worry about it too much, guy, I'm sure y'all could get a really good rebound coach if Saban leaves.

That's nice. How can you guarantee me (your words) they'll be willing to spend a dollar amount which exceeds anything Alabama could match?

If he leaves Bama, does he take his statue with him?
Seriously, I can't see Saban leaving Alabama where he has complete control, for UT where he wouldn't.

Why would Saban's agent want to coach Texas?
