Yeah, I guess I mean, for example, if West Virginia came to the SEC, it would elevate their prestige, encourage boosters and support, and help recruiting (A&M's path is similar, but due to slightly different circumstances).

Texas has really been in position to dominate in the Big 12 for so long with all of this already in place, so what does the SEC bring for a high-level program that they can't already do right now?

Yeah I don't think joining immediately is the answer, 2023 at the very earliest. Hell, 2025 is sounding better every day.

Overall, I think the hope is that joining the SEC will light a fire under their asses and force the program to become more competitive with recruiting/NIL/player development/facilities/atmosphere/etc.

The Big 12 has become so stale, we can give it 70% effort and still have the best recruiting classes and facilities. It has certainly added to the sense of entitlement from players & fans, which is crazy to me because we haven't won shite in a long time.

There is certainly a very real potential for it backfiring & we could become even more of a dumpster fire...but we have too much pride to let that happen, imo. (I know that sounds laughable at the current time)

Texas thought they were better.

That's their problem. That attitude permeates every facet of the program. They are spoiled rotten brats and believe they can show up and win.

Charlie Strong tried to correct the culture, but even he couldn't do it. Texas may be too far gone at this point.

All the talent in the world can't overcome the toxic culture that poisons the mental side of a team and administration.

Texas needs someone who walks into the program with the clout to put their boosters on a leash. The only coach in the country who has that is Saban, and that ship sailed a long time ago if it ever existed at all. Until they give total control to a coach, they'll continue to be anywhere from pure shite to mediocre 9 out of 10 years. But they aren't going to give total control to anyone they know won't say "take this job and shove it, I ain't working here no more" the first time some rich booster drunk dials him at 3am on a Thursday to pitch some ideas about Saturday's gameplan.

Texas 5 star divas won't tolerate a disciplinarian coach. This has been Texas' problem for years now but they keep blaming the coaches.

that's true actually, Charlie Strong was accused there of being "too hard on them"

It's ironic they're trying to milk this Bo Davis shite. Bo Davis sucks a defensive line coach. That's the real story. If he was good, he would have been ripping arse three months ago.

Riding Saban's coat tails doesn't make you a "national champion coach"

Is Butch Jones a "national championship coach" now since he served Nick Saban's coffee for three years?

Why did the bus rant hero wait until Week 9?

Because he's a big fake pussy just like the ones he's "coaching"

His run defense was 116th in the nation before the Kansas game

spare me the Bo Davis hero worship bullshite

I haven't really followed him much since, but there was a time when he was a hell of a coach, and I'd have loved to have him back at Alabama.

Even so, the best coach in the world can't do shite if he doesn't have the talent and/or has lost the team.

Charlie did fine with the spotlight as DC at Florida and HC at Louisville

I think he met some really evil shite with some Texas boosters going after him from day one, some involving petty shite like hating on him because his wife is white? I don't know, somebody with more info needs to tell that story.

But that's evil shite. That makes a person question why they made a move, and then if you're stuck for a few years, you're stuck. How do you go to work after that with your heart in it?

Give me a break with the evil booster shite. Charlie was a good guy but a terrible head coach, see his South Florida performance. He took a program that was trending up and cratered it.

He was in way over his head, refused to accept that social media was becoming a massive factor in recruiting, and just wasn't a very good coach. Boosters recognized that pretty quick...it doesn't make them evil.

Texas 5 star divas

That is their problem. If you sign with the sips the in-state media raises your standing to 5 star. If you eventually sign with another school, especially one in Texas you drop to a 4 star or 3 star.

This has gone on for years (Dallas Morning News, I'm looking at you). It has finally come home to roost.

Poor Sark didn't know what hit him.

he won like crazy at Louisville. That's why you hired him, but now you want to revise history and say he was a bad coach

South Florida is your strawman on that one??

everybody heard smoke about your evil boosters. Wallow in it boy.

my brother, this year, if you have the talent Texas has and your run defense is ranked 116th, you're a bad coach

goes to the old saying, who could your grandma have coached? The Bo Davis 15 minutes of fame and his crowning as "a national championship coach" was because of Saban

Kirk Herbstreit came out kissing his arse on video after The Dark Bus Rant - to me that's like Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow coming out to support him

A lot of this looks familiar, HRV.

REAL familiar.

The shorthorns are losing to big 12 teams with much less talent. That's a big problem.

Arkansas, Iowa State, and Kansas quickly come to mind.

He was kicking arse at Louisville, which is why y'all hired him. He got to Austin and y'all fired him. Tom Herman was kiling it at Houston and could have gone anywhere, and chose to come to Austin. Y'all fired him too.

Good coaches come there and they die due to what your program is.

Keep telling yourself there isn't a problem.
