Literally no one cares about that term anymore. Term became obsolete around the time that people realized Nebraska would probably never win another championship again.
Bama fans don’t even care.
It’d be like an NFL QB losing his starting job and talking shite saying that the guy who took his spot didn’t even make varsity in high school
No one gives a shite

quote:What you really don't understand is where the term "blue bloods" comes from. Of course if you did then you never would have started this thread.
So you just compared a program of 20 year olds throwing a ball to the world’s richest, volatile person? You’re right, I don’t understand that comparison.

SEC originals, don’t buy the hype.

Are you really this insecure because Alabama is verifiably Texas' bitch?

frick texas and all but this is not the time to be talking shite to the horns....
Do you actually want to know the difference between "blue bloods" and the wannabe's?
After the blue bloods lose...,
they stfu.
There's nothing funny about losing.
There's nothing inspirational about losing.
Not a time for bravado. Not a time to talk shite.

Why are there so many OU grads in Texas? It's as far as they could get on a tank of gas.
How do you get an OU grad off your porch? Pay him for the pizza.

IMO it ended when leather helmets ended. Those early players literally died to keep football going. No one can come close to that.

Texas stomps second rate competition to start the year, hasn’t even played an SEC game and “they’re back.” Let me tell you, what “back” actually is:
4 national championships (yeah, cool. Except those all happened in concentrated periods mostly won by a single coach in the 1960s)
2 heismans (you’d think that they won 12 heismans though)
4 Big XII championships (lol the delusion)
SEC originals, don’t buy the hype. They’re Purdue football with a kickass marketing campaign. We’ve dominated them for years (I don’t want to hear about the wins they accrued against OU in the leather helmet era).
OU is down this year. But we will be actually back when we rightsize the offense and play up to sec standards.
In the meantime, we will still beat Texas in a couple of weeks because we live rent free in their heads. I mean, their stadium is named after an OU football player?
Cheers.
All I heard is you don't know what a blue blood is.

I’m very aware of what constitutes a blue blood. Good marketing doesn’t go into the equation (unless you’re ND).

I just read your post on why you think Texas isn't a blue blood.
You obviously do not.

Much like the shorthorns Notre Dame’s status benefits from 1936 to 1974. They’re #1 in AP poll appearances in that time frame.
Look at the last 50 years, Notre Dame is 11th, one ahead of the shorthorns. Top 5 are
TEAM APP PCT
1. Ohio State 712 87.1%
2. Michigan 670 82.0%
3. Oklahoma 661 80.9%
4. Alabama 647 79.2%
5. Nebraska 579 70.9%
One of the reasons we’ve always had a lot of respect for Oklahoma. They earned it.

Well, considering there’s no definition of a college football blue blood in Merriam-Webster, it’s a subjective term. So you have your definition, I have mine.
My definition is a top 5 program in the history of college football. You can debate who is or who is not in that realm. However, I’m not of the opinion Texas meets that threshold by any measure.
