Do you honestly think they would come into the SEC dictating terms unfavorable to SEC members? Even the most cocksure Horn fan would agree that the SEC holds the upper hand in any conference invite negotiations.

Sec gets nothing from Texas. This is a bad decision

Texas’ money doesn’t translate to SEC money, though. Their Booster dollars stay at UT and our TV contracts are what they are. They will bring in some change with post season play but not nearly enough to put up with their fans and admin.

This is ridiculous. Look, as a football fan, I hate Texas with a passion, but to say they do not bring anything to the conference table financially is ignorant.
When A&M joined, it allowed the SEC to negotiate TV deals with a percentage of the Houston and DFW TV market included. With Texas in the fold, you now add the Austin and San Antonio market, and you are no longer splitting Houston and Dallas with the Big 12.
You would literally be adding a television market larger than that of Atlanta. And that's before adding anything OU would bring to the table.
In 2019, SEC member schools received $45M each in conference revenue, most of that from the TV deal. It is not inconceivable for that number to increase 50% with Texas and OU in the conference.

Texas is arguably the national brand. I don't mean in CFB, I mean it's a giant school in a popular city with instantly recognizable logos with tons of well-known ambassadors in all walks of public life.
Texas is what UF and UGA (big schools in big states) aspire to become.

Now do expenses and ticket sales. FFS, you had to sell the basketball facility to generate cash. Lmao.

It’s already a fact that A&M has higher TV ratings in San Antonio and Austin then the Longhorns.

Austin proper? Sure but the central Texas area is God’s country for real. Beautiful rivers and lakes. Elevation changes. Lake Travis is amazing. New Braunfels is amazing.
