NIL money is a bit of a game changer… or has the potential to be.. for Texas.
Had they joined 10, 15, 20 years ago… they wouldn’t be considered elite. Timing is everything. Joined SEC at the perfect time to take advantage of financial resources.

Texas, USC, Oklahoma, Florida would’ve been epic. And all 4 deserved a shot at the title that year.

Fact of the matter is the whole time Texas got away with a lot of things by using people who had "established previous relations with a player before they were a recruitable athlete".... Texas boosters were able to legally support players through people who lived in the town where the player grew up and knew the player as a kid.
That is how Ramonce Taylor got his car. Financed through his HS coach because of that loophole.
To be fair, this was common practice for hometown athletes in any state because it wasn't illegal by NCAA rule
If Texas was paying players like other schools were, we would have top 3 classes every year. Kind of like how we recruit now in the NIL era.

Based on what? The US Constitution? They can do anything they please. You going to pull a Karen and ask for a manager? Take it all the way to the Supreme Court?
