ND and Miami are not in the SEC. They were only going to let 5 SEC teams in, which is more than I thought they would.

lol what?

We’d have wins against Vandy, OU, and A&M which is better than Miami’s ND win.

What are you not understanding in the comparison.

Miami (one win over a possible playoff team, two losses to unranked teams but one head to head win against another 10-2 possible playoff team)
OU (two wins over a possible playoff team, two losses to possible playoff teams)
Vandy (no wins over a possible playoff team, two losses to possible playoff teams)
Notre Dame (no wins over a possible playoff team, two losses to possible playoff teams)

Bold is what was accepted to the playoffs.

Here is where Texas would stand had they scheduled an OOC team but a team like mentioned above that was basically an 80% chance W due to talent gap (most of Notre Dames schedule)

Texas (three wins over a possible playoff teams, one loss to possible playoff team, one loss to unranked teams but two head to head wins against other 10-2 possible playoff teams)

It’s really not far fetched. I’m good with Texas missing the playoffs. Arch needed experience and growth and I believe he got it this year but to the people that say Texas is out because of the loss to Florida is full of shite.

It’s never meaningless to them.

And the fact that they’re in the CFP and still trolling Texas shows how butt hurt they still are.

It’s truly insane the amount of free space in their head that they give Texas.

Your fans bumped this thread, which I did not start

Clearly, your fans are still very, very upset that A&M had a much better season and is in the postseason

It’s meaningless unless we win at all, which is the same thing I told you the last two years

But at least we’ve still got a shot and you guys are obsessed over that

Okay, I'll play this game. What if we had scheduled a P4 opponent to start the season, some school that sounds good on paper but doesn't match up well with our talent (UCLA, Washington State, hell..even North Carolina) then we still go on to have a loss to a bad Florida and Georgia.

I already answered this one.

quote:

Had you scheduled Georgia School for the Blind and beaten them 100-0, but lost to Florida and gotten beat by Georgia by 25 points you probably would not have been in the playoffs, either.

The bad loss to Florida is what kept you out. People want to talk about good wins and bad losses and which should matter more, but the answer is neither. It is both. They both matter.

That said and to answer your question....BYU is definitely out.
The committee is hamstrung by the stupid parameters everyone agreed to. No way JMU or Tulane should be in this year. Take those two out and drop BYU and Texas and Vandy get in. But they wouldn't do that because that would put too many SEC teams in. (Another stupid bias) Take away the OSU game and now Texas has an argument with Alabama and ND.

BUT...like I said, the game that kept you out was the loss to Florida, not OSU. Beat Florida and you are in with only losses against #1 and #3.

Why do you think "appearing " in a game is a flex?

Arkansas "appeared " in 12 games this year

Vandy, Chokelahoma and UTrans all went 6-2 in SEC games. Vandy lost to a ranked UTrans and a ranked Bama. Chokelahoma lost to a ranked UTrans and a ranked Ole Piss. UTrans lost to a ranked Georgia and an unranked Florida.

Chokelahoma got the game because they beat Bama and Vandy lost to Bama.

Both of Vandy's and Chokelahoma's losses were to ranked teams. UTrans had a bad loss to an unranked team. Chokelahoma and Vandy would have got the game before UTrans.

tOSU loss had nothing to do with it.
no no..I am not and never have been advocating for getting in above any SEC team, although Bama has a very similar resume considering they lost to a team that was in turn trashed by a team that beat us, and their other loss was to blowU who we beat by 2 scores. That said, I'm not advocating getting in over Bama either..

Still waiting, you never addressed my real question, and that is "does a 10-2 Texas team get left out of the playoffs with a loss to sub par Florida and top 5 Georgia?" That's the question to answer if you're capable of doing so.

You answered it by saying if we had scheduled "sisters of the poor school for the blind" (or some shite) and beat them 100-0 we would still get left out due to the Florida loss.

What you don't understand is we have never scheduled programs like that, in fact we may be one of a small handful of P4 schools that have never scheduled FCS/DII or whatever other name they used to be called, and tradition says we never will. Like I said in another post, we would replace recent national championship teams like tOSU, Michigan etc with lesser P4 programs that still sound good on the schedule, yet don't match up well with our talent. Washington State? UCLA? Syracuse? Rutgers?

Even if we did schedule something like Mercer, New Hampshire or something silly like that, do you really think a 10-2 Texas gets left out of the playoffs? Think about it..take as long as you need.

some of us saw who he was last year when he went 0-3 against kirby and day with probably the best team he'll ever have here.

The rest? It's going to take a little longer. Hopefully when Day wins in austin next season the light will come on for them.

oh I am 100% convinced Sarge cares far more about what Texas is doing than his Ags in the playoffs.

I promise you that I'm not the least bit "obsessed" with aggy making the playoff.

Of course wish Texas made it in, but there's actually a certain peace that comes with being able to sit back, enjoy all the games, and say "we kicked that team's arse" without a vesting interest in the outcome, other than seeing if aggy can finally put on some big boy pants.

Old Sarge just can't help himself. He's on a hate filled tirade. His Aggies lost to Texas in their greatest season since Hitler and he knows it's about to end.
