Vitello would be easier to pull than schloss at this point.

Based on what?

Schloss is older and has a beast of a young team and recruits coming in. He's only been there 3 years and I don't see him taking a lateral move like UT.
Vitello is losing a lot next year, been there several years and Texas will certainly outbid tenner if it comes down to it. Plus he has the ego drive that coaching at a program like Texas would certainly bring.

He currently makes $1.46M a year. If the rumors of $3.5M for 10 years are true, that lateral move would be much easier to make.

TAM has deep pockets too

Texas really screwed the current players by keeping them in portal limbo.
Unless they've had their guy and communication with the players has been made already.
I also lean more towards the Vitello scenario.
He is losing a ton of talent to the draft and Tenn has also been pretty quiet in the portal already. LSU had portal players committed last season before CWS ended.
If it is Vitello I can see Tenn just promoting Elander

Not saying they don't, it remains to be seen how much they will offer though.

Sharps laying money on O'Connor from Virginia as the main target.

Seems odd. He's been at UVA for 21 years and just signed an extension.

That's a troll account

He has an extended record of success, and Texas considers themselves to be on the level of prestige with UVA.

Schlossnagle will be the new Texas coach, not Vitello.
The AD that hired Schloss is no longer at Texas A&M. The AD that Schloss worked for at TCU is at Texas. Del Conte knows he's the best college baseball coach in America.
Vitello used to work for Schloss at TCU, but they are not bosom buddies. Schlossnagle has confided to some that Vitello was...."difficult." Del Conte knows this as well. Scratch Vitello from UT's list.
I can't fathom Schlossnagle staying in Aggieland and letting Tony Vitello take the job in Austin, where Schloss would have to deal with him (and his mouth) 365 days a year.
If A&M loses tonight, Schloss will leave with a clear conscience, having rationalized that he took the Aggies further than they've ever gone in baseball.
For the sake of disclosure, I pushed for Schlossnagle at LSU three years ago. Y'all laughed at me on this board. I think what he did at TCU and now A&M prove how exceptional he is. LSU didn't even contact him back in 2021, though Schlossnagle very, very much wanted the job. The Aggies gave him a Wednesday night deadline back on June 9, 2021. Schloss waited to the end and LSU never called. At 12:01 a.m. that night A&M announced they had hired Jim Schlossnagle.
