Then again, there’s the second line of their fight song.
At least our reference to them is in the second verse.
So, there’s that.

I never had any beef with Texas until it was announced they were coming to the SEC. The LSU vs Texas game in 2019 was the worst tailgate experience I've ever encountered. Fans were uppity and very vanilla. Everyone had to rent a tailgate tent to tailgate on campus. Their fans didn't even show up until 2hrs before game time. Texas Football is not SEC material...

Gotta love aggie math

Now do the Hex Rally:
quote:
Hex Rally (sometimes Texas Hex) was a pep rally at The University of Texas at Austin that occurred in the week before the annual football game between the Texas Longhorns and their in-state rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies.[1]
Or, explain why a football victory over any other scheduled opponent gets this:

But, ONLY if the victory is against A&M, it gets this:

We don't deny the existence of the markers indicating Texas is a rival, but Texas continuously tries to pretend it's one-sided.

This is the average American. Therefore this is the average fan of any major state university college football program.
Your comment is the average comment of fans of little brother schools in their home state. I've heard this from Auburn fans my whole life, as if you don't see Auburn flags waving at every trailer park in Alabama.

Now do the Hex Rally:

And if anything, that kind of proves our point haha: A&M will sing an entire song about Texas when they're playing prarie view, alabama, auburn, florida, etc. They'll sing an entire song about Texas even when they're not playing them (or scheduled to play them, as they haven't been for over 10 years now)

While this is true, no doubt it’s true, there are way more Un-invested knuckle draggers who cheer for Alabama than Auburn in the state. Of course it also has something to do with Alabama’s success.

In other words...

This thing we did that indicated A&M is our biggest rival in football is not valid anymore because we don't play A&M in football.
quote:

My bad. I didn't realize you took "Good-bye to A&M" out of the song when you sing it over and over at games other than A&M.
Nothing says "A&M is not our rival" like singing "Good-bye to A&M" after an extra point against Kansas State.
Well, I guess since it is only sung after touchdowns and extra points, you actually don't sing it that much anymore, but my point still stands.

A&M was a big game even when one or neither of the teams were any good. I'm not going to deny that. But there's a reason we wouldn't go to the SEC without OU joining, and there's a reason we let A&M leave without a second thought

Just about every longhorn fan you poll, whether they've been a fan for 1 year or 50 years, would tell you that Oklahoma has always and will always be our bigger rival.
Unfortunately for Texas a&m, there is not one single team out there that considers the aggies as "the biggest game of the year, every year"

As you can tell from the "texas" and "ou" fans that post they are at best community college graduates and t-shirt fans of the school
They are simply too stupid for anything else

Lol that was not the case because it simply never has been.
So, you're claiming that a win over A&M is NOT the only football game (other than a BDF championship) that gets a solid orange tower?
Might want to tell your school about that.

Lol I see you're still upset with me from hurting your feelings the other day that your still on this soapbox of "no way you could have gone to Texas if I didn't get in!
"
I'm sorry some of us on this site could do what you weren't capable of, ColoradoReject. I'm also bewildered as to why a school can't have t-shirt or "sidewalk" fans like that's some sort of bad thing. Don't teams want support? Or is it in y'alls third reich-esque agenda where only "chosen ones" can be a part of y'all's super awesome cult?

It's funny how accurate your post remains from OU's perspective if you replace 'Texas' with 'OU' and replace 'A&M' with 'OSU'
And the Cowboy fans absolutely hate us for that fact

I can understand the confusion though. Few teams have beat other teams in college football as many times as Texas has beaten A&M, and Texas also has over 200 conference titles in their current conference. In other words: there has always been ample opportunity to light it.
Thanks for the obsession over a tradition on our campus, though!

It's pretty cool actually: they poll students from schools around the nation and determine which rivalries have approximately the same amount of disdain for the other, and which ones are imbalanced (spoiler: the OU vs. OSU rivalry is one of the most imbalanced ones in the country

poor xwing,
still having to rely on ancient history to make himself feel good about his team and try and make them still seem relevant.
I wonder how many other "bluebloods" did not have any players drafted?
