A&M was a small, all male military college for a long time. During the early days, this didn't hurt us much, and we had success. But the landscape changed, and we got left behind. It was in this long period from the WW2 to the 80's that Texas A&M football was relegated to the status of a Baylor or State. But A&M changed rapidly, and we now have all the resources, money, alumni base, facilities, and marketing of the elite programs.

Imma go ahead and copy/paste WildTchoupitoulas here:

Yeah, and LSU didn't drop their ROTC requirement until 1969. You need to drop all the crying about being a military and ag school when you're talking to graduates of "The Old War Skule", being Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College. Face it, LSU and A&M had similar histories, the difference being that no one wanted to go to your shite-arse school in the 50s and 60s.
In 1928, LSU had an enrollment of 1800 students, which included some women. That same year, A&M had almost 2700.
By 1936 LSU had grown to 6,000 students, (again, some of which being women), while A&M had over 4000 - all male.
After WWII, by 1947, LSU had grown to 10,000 men and women students, while A&M had 8400 all males.
Let me know when the NCAA started letting co-eds play football, and you may have a point.

I actually really like that idea. I'm in, if we get a quorum.
I already proposed the idea on the Ark.
The response I got was: (paraphrased)

I think you’d have trouble because some only post on the Rant

That's a terrible response. We'll make this simple:
From 1923 to 1986, A&M and LSU played 29 times. 27 were in BR. 2 were neutral. 0 were in College Station.
Why do you suppose that is?
Some more info:
1899 to 1923: 12 games, 4 in College Station, 3 in BR, 5 neutral site. A&M led the series 7-3-2 during that period
1942 to 1973: 27 games, 0 in CS, 25 in BR, 2 neutral site. LSU led the series 20-7 during that time.
1986 to 1995: 10 games, 5 in each place. A&M led the series 6-4 during that time.
2011 to 2018: 8 games, 4 in each place, LSU leads 7-1 during this time
A&M football was set back significantly during the 40s and 50s and 60s and 70s, during which time we did not have the resources of the major programs. Baylor truly was our rival during that time. We couldn't even get a home-and-home from LSU.

That’s true.
Many come straight to tSECr and bypass the team board.
But even for those folks, if other Ag posters stay outta the fray, the UTex and horn wannabe malcontents won’t have nearly the opportunities for expelling their verbal diarrhea that they currently have.

Because A&M is a second tier football program that couldn't figure out how to schedule an OOC home and home?

.aggy cried. s
But seriously, the SEC was kinda stiff till tu.a&m aggy got here. You guys provide 90% of the comic relief, especially in the off season. So, please don't "fast" from the rant.

They think they are more important than they are
More importantly they are a cult.
If I was an A&M fan I would do whatever I wanted.
Post on SECrant or whatever.
More proof they think collectively

Texas is SEC country now.
With only 16% of kids committing to an SEC team? That math doesn't seem to work.

So, you're saying there is no such thing as a home-field advantage?

Haha. Oklahoma is the only team from the Big 12 that has played quality football since re-alignment
Baylor, K-State, and Okie St have all won BIG XII titles "since realignment" which aggie just couldn't do, so I think not.

Aggy just lost another recruit to Texas. I kinda like this new landscape.

If every A&M poster stopped posting on the Rant completely for a week, the board would melt down.
Sadly, we don't have the collective discipline for that.
Count me in as sort of a 13th man, dawg.

Remember last year when Aggy claimed Jimbo will dominate Herman in state in recruiting?

So, 1/6th of the recruits to the SEC does not make Texas SEC Country.
Tell me, a what portion would you consider it SEC Country?

Of course we wanted the benefits of the SEC.. that's why we joined.
But I thought it was because of big mean brother's antics that you joined. At least you're finally being honest.

Their move did open up the borders for other SEC schools to infiltrate the Lone Star State.
Texas is currently #6 in the 2020 rankings. Recruiting isn't their problem.

I dunno. When it's at a dominant percentile well above 16%?

They've been on a roll lately. Pretty sure they just landed Xavion Alford moments ago. TX is SEC country and ATM runs it now huh?

It is not SEC country because of A&M.
LSU and Arkansas can help but for Texas to be SEC country that is on Texas A&M.
They can't get anything correct.
Texas just dominates them and the fact that Texas can dominate something we attached our name to bothers me.
