This is TERRIBLE. Worst possible scenario to start the season for A&M other than actually playing the game and getting beat. The ONLY positives:
--it is impossible for us to lose before the Florida game, making it even more likely that GameDay will be on campus for that game (assuming the gators don't frick it up against their first opponent)
--Kyle Field will be fricking NUTS on 9/8. It was gonna be wild before, but now with it being the very first game it is going to be absolutely ridiculous. I know UF is no stranger to wild environments but that atmosphere will be off the damn chain.
It's official. BTHO florida!

Bill Byrne strikes again.
Seriously, we could have had a MAC school for this Saturday and SYRACUSE on November 17th.

SUCKS. Playing 10/13 does not fit our needs, this weekend does. Reschedule the game for sometime this weekend or cancel the game.

We didn't make the decision...the WAC Commissioner did.

Its La Tech's home game. Their call.
I guess TAMU could forfeit

No BYE week is terrible.
No refunds is seriously WTF BS...
Is postponing even necessary? I understand safety, but this storm is much weaker now.
I'd like to see a weather report from Shreveport on Thursday. If it is 30 mph with light showers I'm going to be pissed.

Good call for the safety of the fans.
and what a reasonable and responsible person would and should do. however, when that mature individual is from louisiana, texans that disagree with the decision like to spout about how dumb and backwoods all louisianians are. the no refund policy sounds like all sports policys, cruise lines, etc. hell, go to the game on the 13th or give your friggin' tickets away. no big deal.

The No Refunds policy makes this a profitable situation for La Tech. Now they not only get to keep the money from those who bought tickets regardless of if they can now make it but they get to sell a Saturday game in October instead of a Thursday game in the August rain to maximize ticket sales.
I hope A&M never schedules another road game in Louisiana with a school not named LSU.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012
TEXAS A&M FOOTBALL SEASON OPENER AGAINST LOUISIANA TECH POSTPONED
COLLEGE STATION
Texas A&M received word from Louisiana Tech officials that the football season opener scheduled for Thursday, Aug, 30, has been postponed until Oct. 13 due to the impending effects of Hurricane Isaac which is scheduled to make landfall along the Louisiana coast in the next 24 hours.
"I know Coach (Kevin) Sumlin and our Aggie football team were ready to play, but the safety and well-being of our Aggie fans, our student-athletes as well as the residents of Louisiana is paramount," Texas A&M Director of Athletics Eric
Hyman said.
Both Louisiana Tech and Texas A&M had the same open date of Oct. 13 on their schedules which allowed the game to be moved back. Kickoff time will be determined at a later date but fans are reminded that tickets and parking permits that have already been purchased will be honored, but there will be no refunds.
The Aggies will now open the 2012 campaign at home at Kyle Field against Florida on Saturday, Sept. 8 with kick slated for 2:30 p.m. central. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN and it will mark the Aggies' SEC opening game.

South Alabama and UTSA had a similar situation with our game in Mobile scheduled for Thursday night. We just moved it to Saturday
