Yeah, A&M's needed an elite coach for about 2 decades now. It's not like the pieces aren't there, but you gotta find someone to put it all together, not frick it up as Aggie coaches are reknown for doing

Yo Smoke, I have heard some things about what all has been going on in the athletic department at A&M but kinda curious to hear what you know. We couldn't be actually moving towards a good coaching hire right? People are saying things about former aggies with bama connections on the crootin trail for K-Smart. Which I am a ok with. Some Aggie insider types are being pretty ominous.

Y'all just look away for a few weeks, focus on more important stuff like Bowl Games, SEC Championship, etc. Don't worry about little ol' A&M, we're getting some shite straightened out.

If I can trust my sources, our Athletic Department is going to look drastically different pretty soon.

A&M gets a bad rap for a lot of shite. Have known half a dozen A&M grads in my lifetime and they all pretty cool people.

Hey, stuff like this and the debacle that was the 2011 season just brings it on ourselves It's all good though--at least we're not dealing with Penn State or Syracuse levels of scandal. So there's that, I guess

I live in Houston and work with a shite-ton of Aggies. Here's my honest assessment of them.

They are a cult.

Meet an Aggie and one on one he'll seem like a really cool country boy kinda guy. Usually likes to hunt, drink, maybe dip, and loves football. He'll laugh and joke with you and you can count on him in a pinch.

BUT, get more than about 3 or four of them together, and it's like the fricking indoctrination switch in their brain kicks on and they transform in to this hive-mind of obnoxiousness and fervor that David Koresh couldn't top. It's frickin scary.

True story:
For the Cotton Bowl last year I invited over a bunch of friends and cooked a big gumbo. My wife and I are, of course Tigers, another couple are Texas Tech grads, then we also had 4 couples that were Aggies. Usually these people are GREAT to be around, and I consider them friends. But that night the koolade kicked in and I thought I was going to have some trouble. Even my neighbor who can't even tell you who the Aggies are playing from one week to the next was all riteous and belligerent. When I called their Aggie towels a "dish rag" he bowed up and asked if I wanted to step outside. This guy is 5' 8" and about 120 pounds soaking wet! And he's my freakin neighbor! I just laughed and gave him another bowl of gumbo (he ate 4 bowls).

One Aggie = a good guy who you can drink with, hunt with, and joke with

A group of Aggies = whacked out cultish zealots that have tradition so beaten in to them that they worship ridiculous behaviors and symbols without question.

multiple Aggies = self righteous cult

Until someone comes up with $9 million to buy out Sherm, we are stuck with him. I think the best we can hope for is that we get a good OC who is given control of the offense next season.

well I wouldn't hold your breath.

My bet is Sherman simply promotes Tom Rossley from QB coach to OC since he held the same position under Sherman in Green Bay.

and as long as I am making fake Vegas bets, I am also going to bet that whoever busted this cat also works at the school, knew about who he was for a while, never liked him, and was simply waiting for him to say something that could get him canned so he could run to Loftin to tattle on him.
