Not everyone has football smarts- thanks for proving that. Elko is a fantastic coach, including last year in year 1. 98% of us understand that.

Now, regarding Alberts- he's done a good job, but why the hell does TEXAS EFFING A&M have to worry about someone like him moving on.?

You don't want to run one of the most powerful athletic programs in the country? Fine, move along.

How did he whiff the baseball hire?

Oh I don't know, hiring a first-time HC who had only been an assistant for a handful of years, and subsequently taking the #1 pre-season team with a stacked lineup to not even making a regional?

How is that not whiffing on the hire?

Schloss fricked him. He walked out way after everyone else was done making their hires, and tried to take the entire team with him on the way out the door. Earley was who that "stacked" lineup wanted.

Another good point, how is an AD of a major program that oblivious to one of the big sports HCs being ready to leave, being caught flat footed and having to let the players choose the coach?

None of that is "solid"

Let us put it another way. Without Alberts shielding him from our meddlesome boosters Elko is gone. So which is more important?

Alberts wanted to hire Mike Stoops.

I'm ok with this extension

Yeah I like the Bucky hire too

And I don't hate the Elko extension given what poor Ole Miss is going through

Literally the entire baseball team (and much the fanbase) was all-in on hiring Earley. They demanded him, actually. It felt like the baseball equivalent of the Stoops-to-Elko saga. We’ll see whether it pays off, tho there’s no denying last season was disappointing.

And the basketball hire is not underwhelming.

Schloss was gone regardless. We were behind the 8 ball and didn't break the bank for Earley. Ok with buckyball if he is competitive and the style seems to put butts in seats. The Jimbo fiasco hurt us but if Elko continues with 108,000 + for every game including Samford, we will be very healthy soon.

Only then should we put more money in minor sports. Agreed Earley must have a far better season this year.
