They never made an announcement that he was the coach. All of the wording surrounding schiano was "close" or "imminent"
It's unlikely that he ever signed anything truly binding

Yeah, Unless both the President of the University and the Chancellor both signed that contract, not a fricking chance. 20 Million buyout, surely you don't buy this shite

Even if that figure is true, I'm sure there is a moral turpitude clause in the contract. Maybe the Tennessee lawyers can use it to negotiate the buy out down.

here's the crazy part...Butch was still the coach of Tennessee 2 weeks ago. Having a verbal agreement is not a contract. I HIGHLY doubt any contract was signed.

Hell Kentucky owed Billy G 5 million and all he had was some scratchings on a cocktail napkin as a memorandum of understanding.
A cocktail napkin was fitting for Billy G

I'm not buying $20M either...but you're a fool if you think Tennessee is getting out of this without paying something...especially if there's a signed memorandum and UT officials have already admitted to vetting the whole PS story. "Our fans are pissed" won't be justification if Schiano has a case. UT will pay something to make this go away.

Not since they've admitted that they'd vetted that whole story already.

There is no way, but every part of me hopes it is accurate.

If it’s true then the AD has to be fired . How can you pay a 20 million dollar buyout to a coach that never even coaches your team.

I’d bet there a full disclosure clause in the contract.

What genius worked in a 20 million buyout. I swear these admins have to be in for something on the side to be putting these insane buyouts into coaches contracts.
