I dislike TN as much as many on here, but I can't help but feel like they got done dirty. Proot was just a bad hire, and most of our schools have done that at some time or another. But damn this is crappy. I honestly just wanna play a season where every team has everything on the line. Its best for the sport.

I mean he did what he did. We all know that our various coaches cheat to one degree or another. I just never expected him to be that bad at it given his prior stops. I don't think he intended to frick us over but any time a coach is this bad at shite like this it always fricks over the school.

Pruitt was the best of a pile of shite after our AD went rogue and got fired and we had to make an emergency hire to make an emergency hire. Currie could've recovered from the Schiano fiasco and was even on the right track by interviewing Leach but he decided he didn't want to talk to the admin. If he'd have picked up the damn phone, he likely gets the go ahead to hire Leach or someone else but he went completely rogue, refusing to answer anyone, and so our hands were forced leading us to Fulmer and Pruitt.

So I don't think any of us expected Pruitt to be great but we did want him to be serviceable. And his sophomore season showed potential -- turned out to be fool's gold as even the defense which had undergone vast improvement dropped off a cliff his final season and dear god let's forget about what passed for an offense.

The NCAA has shifted a lot in recent years on punishments. In the past something like this would've gotten a school hammered but the new meta so to speak is to punish the coach. We've seen this a lot in basketball but I think we'll see it in football with this case. We did all the heavy lifting on investigating, levied harsh self-imposed penalties (not just show penalties) and fired Pruitt for cause as soon as it was known to us and I think the NCAA wants to show that it's intention is to punish the violators not the innocent folks left to pick up the pieces after they get exposed or flame out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't clemson find out about this somehow and snitch on us? Could swear I heard that somewhere.
this was when Lil Fat Bastard was snitching on USC. Lil Bastard will never make a bowl game before USF cans his arse but it would be poetic to meet them in a bowl and tag him with the embarrassing loss that get his arse fired.

https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2019/10/23/South-Carolina-football-gets-1-year-probation-from-NCAA/8671571836568/

Whitney gate all started when the NCAA decided to investigate then Gamecock Weslye Saunders after his tarhole buddy was taking extra benefits in Butch Davis' rogue NoCar program. USC was found clean with regards to Saunders, but in the process our "model" compliance turned over all of our athletes living arrangements to the NCAA and they decided they couldn't leave Columbia nothing but egg on their face - so the NCAA constructed the Whitney-gate.

None. Not a peep. Which makes since since the parties involved still have 50 days to respond.

If the NCAA really wants all 3 of Pruitts wins they can have them I guess.

The bowl ban isn’t likely. The school didn’t act in bad faith, Pruitt and Co did.

Reducing scholarships is not likely either, the school (Fulmer) told Pruitt to sit 5 guys for the last couple games. He sat 2 the last game. That’s a huge reason Pruitt was not offered a buyout at all. The demonstrates the school acting in good faith while Pruitt was a rogue actor.

Well, they won't have to forfeit any wins against Alabama.

You Vol fans are something else.. I remember after Pruitt's second year at Tennessee Vol nation was ready to give him a lifetime contract. Tennessee fans couldn't get enough of him, but like always when they face a little adversity they fall on their face. They demand yet another coaching change, they throw out all this dream head coach candidates. However, they always forget potential coaches do their own research and they know how quickly the fan base wants them out of town. You are so two faced that the same exact Vol fans that were ready to crucify Lane Kiffin after he left for USC wanted him to come back after getting rid of Pruitt. That right there is the University of Tennessee in a nutshell! Here is some advice you need to stop changing coaches like underwear, and stop playing the victim whenever you lose everyone in the stadium gets blamed except the players on the field. It is time to take a look in the mirror Vol fans and realize next year will not be a repeat of 1998. You brought in a head coach and AD who won a fake national title, so if you are looking for another ring you hired the HC/AD combo that can come up with one!

You do realize that UT had intended to retain Pruitt? Fans were resigned to it despite a record setting 3 win season - a program history worst. Then this shite came out and Pruitt was fired. No one actually rallied to fire your boy but we weren't sorry to see him go.

So you can get the frick right off your high horse. You want to talk about insane fans? That mote in your eye has blinded you. Bammer fans think Saban is losing his touch and is trash when he loses 1 or 2 games. So fricking tired of the hypocrisy you and others like you bathe yourselves in.

ETA: Heupel wasn't at UCF then dumbass.

Did a Bama fan just cry about UCFs questionable title claim? He just shattered his glass house for no reason. Wow.

Good point. He also confirmed he waits 3-4 years to change his underwear. And conveniently ignores that UF has fired coaches at a higher clip than we have but given Alabama's history of ignoring all things Florida (Spurrier turned them in) I'm not surprised.

Pruitt was 16-19, so they would vacate all 16 wins, wouldn't they? 13 UT players named in the violations played in nearly all the games Pruitt coached, so the NCAA would most likely vacate all 16 wins.

Vacating wins is common in serious NCAA cases involving ineligible players. Ole Miss had 33 wins vacated over six seasons (2010-16) for committing 15 Level I violations under coach Hugh Freeze. It makes only sense that they would do the same to Tennessee.

Those 3 and the misery they represent are all that matter. It's why we're like, "yes, vacate that dirty cheat! Better yet wipe our memories!"

And 16-19 is no better. It's really not. It makes me want to start a petition asking the NCAA to vacate the Pruitt Era.

Are you that naive? That stuff doesn't slip out unless someone in the know wanted it to come out.

The heavy hitters were against Pruitt and created the leak.

They had hoped transparency and compliance along with firing their coach would lessen the blow.

That said, his teams were the hardest hitting Vols I had seen since the 80s-90s.

Tough nosed defensive football.

NCAA just told us we set the standard of how to deal with things. You don't make that statement and turn around and hammer who you upheld as a standard bearer.

I'm not so sure. I could see the NCAA finally showing some teeth, since the cheating was right in front of their noses and, apparently, institution wide.

Also hearing that there's a 5-year mustard bottle ban at Neyland Stadium starting in 2023.

Big if true.

If there's any bowl ban it will be one where you get to pick when within a time frame. If something like that comes down then it won't be this season. It might be next season.

This seems odd to me. I am one that thinks Huepel has UT headed in the right direction. I could see you having a good year this year and only getting better going forward. (Provided he figures out the defense, thing) It seems like it would be better to go ahead and take the bowl ban this year and set yourself up for an NY6 bowl next year.
