Neither of your boosters will put up the money you think. You don't pay a ridiculous amount of money for a coach until he has proven himself at your school, it's just poor business. You bring a guy in on a nice salary and after he proves himself roll out the dollars. If you want to pay big money right away you do it buy hiring a current coach at another school, this happens less often than the alternative because of the high price required for a still uncertain hire.

I really don't think a Misstake fan needs to be in here running his mouth about coaching hires. Yea yea you got mullet but he ain't that great.

According to your logic Bama was stupid to make Saban the highest paid coach in CFB to get him to leave the dolphins.

Arkansas is on record as being prepared to make our next coach the highest paid in CFB if need be.

To put it for the simple minded Tenner fans around here. If Haslam gave a crap about Tenner football Derek Dooley wouldn't have been hired

If he is so gosh dang rich and wants Tenner to have the best why isn't John Gruden the coach at UT right now?

Sounds almost like Arkansas. Pig fans constantly brag about being Walmart University, but you've got that buffoon of a coach and have been next to irrelevant in the SEC since joining.

what the frick! have they had dumb asses for AD's? this is totally fricked up and down right irresponsible in today's "easy money" world of college football.

They have probably set aside some serious scratch to pay the lawsuit stemming from the Pat S accusations.

We were plagued with stupid leadership for much of our time in the SEC. Much like what Tennessee has experienced the past few years. Buffoon coach is a stop gap to get us through the season. You do know he is gone after the season right?

AS for money, we did just pay cash for our football operations center. Thanks to the quality leadership we have now.

CEO's are easily and usually quickly fired. Those are 3 companies that aren't neccessities. Our boosters are majority shareholders in some of the world's largest corporations.

plus we saved money by firing our coach with just cause while you guys will be paying a buyout for a long time, no one is hiring Dooley to take the buyout off your books.

Tennessee stands to lose a lot more money from keeping Dooley. Boosters and fans will only pony up if you putting a winning brand er...I mean coach on the field.

3 trips to Atlanta, the BCS and AP #5 and 10 finishes. Way more then half of the SEC can't say the same.

How did we hire an NFL coach and Tennessee hired LA-Techs coach?

You hired a NFL coach that had the moral value of a peanut, one that left his team like a thief in the night when things started going South for the Falcons. He was looking for a way out and your opening was good timing for him to bail mid-season on his NFL team.

We were pretty much reduced to settling for anyone since Kiffin left less than a month before national signing day and left a depleted roster.

Anyone that somewhat follows college football could have answered your question for you. Not that hard to figure out.

Or the fact that they hired Kiffen who wasn't even given a courtesy interview at Arkansas after he called about our opening in 07.

That's a complete lie.

This is a ridiculous argument, anyways. Even if Arkansas' boosters have more money, who cares? Tennessee has plenty of money for a coaching change, so who cares? Is Arkansas going to offer Gruden 25 million a year?

Just talked to a buddy from East Tennessee who contributes copious ammounts of money to UT. He is saying Gruden is more than likely a done deal. They are having some problems working out the financials of paying off Druley and Paying the salary Gruden wants but believe they have come up with a strong list to offer him.

1. Choice pick of 3 state champion coon dogs.
2. Unlimited Skoal from all Knoxville Pilots.
3. A night of pleasure with Lulu
4. All you can eat buffet every tuesday night from The Iron Skillet, Pilot Truck Stops signature restaraunt.

Haslam is the OWNER of Pilot (do a little google search to find out how big that is).

Considering we are at about the same level now (Tennessee is probably better, actually), why does it matter?
