LSU beat Bama in Bama's yard. Fear? Hah! Tell yourself whatever you want to keep your delusion alive and happy.

Bama is #2. Take your trophy and move along. #1 needs to find out who steps up next.

No, I've analyzed the game and it's pretty clear to me that LSU would win a rematch in New Orleans. We PROBABLY would do just as good or better against OU/OSU, but not having played them, I can't be sure what our chances are.

well, my bias is that you are correct on that point

but as the 2006 season will tell you the presumptions of who is better and who is worse are just presumptions... the teams who haven't had a shot should get one first IMO

If Ok State wins that is clearly them. If OU beats Ok State then it is a little muddier but still worth considering. If OU and Ok State both won their bowl games we would look back on LSU/Bama 2011 like we do tOSU/Michigan 2006

If OSU loses to Oklahoma, then it's evident that bama is #2 and should play again.

Not when OU jumps Alabama in the polls after beating OSU.

Instead of focusing on losses like a loser, you should try to focus on wins - like a winner - then you would see why Oklahoma would jump Alabama. Oklahoma faces three Div IA teams, two of which are ranked. Bama is looking at 2 Div IA games, only one of which is ranked, Auburn, and Auburn is ranked below both of OU's upcoming ranked opponents.

In short if Bama and OU win out, OU will have more quality WINS than Bama. The computers are loving a bunch of the Big 12 right now, and the human polls will not want to see another batle of the kickers in the BCSCG - it just won't happen. NO ONE wants to see that again, not just LSU fans.

The only thing is that Oregon plays a conference championshuip game while Oklahoma will not. This could jump Oregon over Oklahoma for the #2 spot.

I don't know if I agree with that. As an SEC homer, I'm inclined to say Alabama (and maybe even Arkansas) are better than Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. But until the game is actually played, I would have no way of knowing for sure.

Alabama (and Arkansas and Oregon for that matter) will have had their chance at getting it done against LSU. I've seen that game, and I saw LSU win. OU and Okie State will have not played LSU, so I can't say without a doubt that they are or are not better than LSU. So why wouldn't we find out once and for all if LSU/Bama are better than Oklahoma/OSU ?

The only way to find out is to give one of them a chance to prove themselves.

If OU/OSU beats LSU, then we were all wrong from the get-go....LSU and Alabama are indeed not the Top2 teams in the country. Do I think that will happen? Maybe, maybe not...but at least we would be able to find out for sure. An LSU-Alabama rematch proves nothing as it relates to OU/OkieState being better or worse than LSU/Bama.

OK lost that chance when they got beat by an unranked.

OKstate deserves that chance.

Don't worry. You'll get your rematch.

Im in for this. Won't happen as long as OU doesn't lose another.

But you tell us math whiz... break it down for us chief.

You could go back and read the hundreds of threads where multiple LSU fans have explained this to you in great detail, but just to start with, there's this:

Wins over 1-loss teams:
Last week:
LSU 2
Alabama 2

This week:
LSU 2
Oregon 1
Alabama 1

Next two weeks:
LSU 2
Oregon 1
OU 1
Alabama 0

Then there's the remaining W-L of the quality teams everyone has played. For OU & Oregon, this metric will improve with the teams they play. For LSU it will drop. For Alabama it will absolutely plummet with Penn St. losing at least 2 more games, and Arky losing to LSU, and that doesn't even get into what the conference championships might do to the math, to say nothing of the bias against an inter-conference BCS game.

Sounds like you might be the one that needs to pray....LSU is sittin pretty. It's all about preference for LSU and its fans at the moment. The Tigers, and the Cowboys, are the only two teams in the country that control their own destiny.

"Who do we want to play in the BCSCG?"

It's a relatively comfy question to be asking ourselves.

Everybody is making this more complicated than need be. Things only really get complicated if Arkansas beats LSU. Otherwise LSU will mathchup with the winner of OU/OSU assuming the winner of that game wins out. Bama would be on the outside looking in and Oregon would be waaaayyyyyy on the outside looking in. I think LSU would probably even be safe if they won their final two reg season games and lost in the SEC CG. All bets are off though if LSU loses to Arkansas and even more If OU beats OSU in Stillwater but loses another game. The current pecking order to face an undefeated lsu is OU/OSU winner, bama, oregon

The stats were almost dead even. First downs, total offense, time of possession, turnovers. And for every lesser stat you can cite, I can cite one that goes the other way.

Incorrect.

The aim of the BCS to find out who the best team in the country is. No one gives a shite about who #2 is... it's irrelevent. The aim is to crown a national champion, the best team in the country.

The only way to find that out definitively is to let OU or Okie State to play LSU. If LSU plays Alabama again, the argument could always be made that Oklahoma or Oklahoma State was the best team in the country and just didn't get their chance to beat #1. Not many reasonable people would feel guilty about leaving Alabama or Oregon out when they were already given that shot to prove themselves as the best team in the country.

The LSU fans that say Bama had their shot & blew it are the same ones saying LSU should go to the championship even if they lose to Arkansas.

Hell, LSU beat Oregon on a neutral field with our backup QB and beat Bama in Tuscaloosa. Both teams had their opportunities, and failed. I have no problem with OU getting the nod over two teams that already had their chance.

Did you have a problem with LSU getting a second chance at a NC in 2007 after they blew it at home against Arkansas the last game of the year?

My gut is telling me no.
