Rick Barnes always seemed like a quality coach. Aside from the running joke about taking his name out of the running, i hardly ever even saw TexAgs put him down.

Barnes is a good reg season coach, but more times than not a chocker during tourney time. Something you will all witness in time.

There was a long standing joke among Aggies about Barnes. A couple of times when there were openings for head coaches, Barnes, for some reason would call a press conference and say that he had removed himself from consideration for the position.
Many doubted that he had any consideration. So the joke began whenever there was a job opening anywhere ie dogcatcher, security guard etc, our standard response was "Rick Barnes has removed him self from any consideration".
He even played along with our crowd. We do the "sit down bus driver" yell anytime a coach starts an argument with an official. After we beat them in a close game, he made it a point to criticize our "high school" cheers.
Next time we met he got a steady stream of "sit down bus driver." He finally stood up and waived to the crowd in mock surrender. It was all in good fun.
We have nothing against Barnes. He is a good coach.

He joked, saying, "I'm sure they'll probably do something like the watermelon rind chant." Next time he was at Reed, A&M blew t.u. out and did that exact chant just to mock him.

i was at that game, it was great. he took it in stride too and clapped afterwards. even joked in his postgame presser that he taught our fans how to cheer

For the record, Rick Barnes would have fewer than three losses right now with this year's A&M team.
