Croom winning Coach of the Year in 2007 is akin to Casey Anthony winning parent of the year in 2008.

My all-time 3 favorite LSU coaches are Hallman, DiNardo, and Archer.

Ellis Johnson's defense got us to that bowl game, not Croom's offense

Worst head coach in SEC history.

Coach O disagress with this statement.

At Ole Miss, Orgeron recorded only two wins against teams with a winning record (Memphis State), lowest among then-active SEC coaches. In 2007, OM finished the season 0-8 in the conference and 3-9 overall. It was Ole Miss's first winless campaign in the SEC since 1982.

After blowing a 14-point fourth-quarter lead to in-state rival Mississippi State in the season's last game, Orgeron was fired as head football coach of Mississippi.

Career totals 10-25 total; 3-21 in the SEC

Hallman was the secondary coach at State for one season.

Croom was still your head coach regardless. He still made some calls on that field. He made the hire in Johnson. So obviously he did something right.

As bad as Crooms was- he at least had enough sense to hire Ellis Johnson- and Johnson somehow managed to help keep some games close in spite of Croom's offense- and even win some of those with defensive TD's.

The thing with Crooms was that he would make stupid statements in addition to awful coaching.

One of my favorites- during his last season, about halfway thru, reporters were getting on him about the offense again and mentioning that scoring was down once again- and I shite you not, Crooms said:

"well, we just arent getting any defensive scores like we did last season"

He literally blamed the defense for not scoring TD's as to why the offense wasnt putting up enough points. That comment pretty much sealed his firing.

never understood trying to make omar connor a west coast QB. seems to me he would have fit what they do now pretty well.

the strange thing was that after connor was done they actually started to do a little zone read/speed option stuff with carroll and henig. not much but some. If you're willing to do that stuff with 4.8 guys why wouldn't you do it with a running QB?
