As for sumlin losing control, nah, I blame Louisiana. The main issue is that texas enforces laws while Louisiana allows you to do whatever you want. The state and people are so broken that they've pretty much given up. They just exist out of habit. So enforcing laws is on the bottom of their list, and the result is Louisiana kids escaping those borders thinking that their normal behavior will be tolerated by society outside said borders.

I wouldn't sweat it. They had oversigned and needed to cut 6 guys before next week anyway. Only the riff-raff was cut. The 3 starters that failed haven't received their punishment yet.

I read today that Josh Turner was re-instated by Coach Strong. Apparently Charlie isn't as strict about his "No Stealing" policy after all. It's a country club atmosphere over there...

First thing you need to understand is that Andre has never gotten over being in Aaron Wallace's highlight reel!

Aaron Wallace darn near decapitated him.

Contrast that to what Charlie Strong is doing at Texas. He's determined to instill discipline into his program, and is in the process of running off the deadbeats and douche bags.

this is the correct way to solve the problem. sumlin should have done this a year ago

Just as you were saying this, strong reinstates players he has kicked off.

You were saying? Dumbass

I like how they lump the player who had to medically retire due to multiple concussions in there with the "dismissals".

Real classy.

As far as Strong goes, I see him as Texas' version of Dennis Franchione.

Step 1: Burn bridges with Texas high school coaches - CHECK

Step 2: Get your arse kicked in recruiting by the other Texas flagship - CHECK

Step 3: Render several talented players ineligible to play during your inaugural season (Franchione redshirted 20 players, Strong is on pace to kick 20 players off the team)

Step 4 is to get a star QB and make him learn 4 offensive schemes in 4 years

Step 5 is to lose to a team you haven't lost to in 20 years and get an extension after the school's worst bowl loss in its history

Step 6 is to say repeated stupid things in the media, such as "the preseason is over", "(whiny voice) I do this every week SIR", and "hold the rope"

Step 7 is to sell confidential information about your players to wealthy boosters and run it through your own personal biographer.

Recruiting says otherwise.

Its OK you don't know, I would avoid 247 and rivals if I was an Arky fan too.

Our 2013 classes were practically identical if you factor in all the players you've lost from that class.

No way. 2013 after attrition is still a top 20 class.

Sucks for you your shitty throw away comment isn't even correct.

Normally Stonehog is pretty on point, but this can be disproven by simply counting the points. Its a bad day for him I guess.

I am also assuming that argument is going around Arky koolaid circles. More power to them, I remember when my program was down and couldn't recruit a top 15 class to save our lives.

The beautiful thing is 247 has the class calculator. I went ahead and removed the attrition and recalculated the results. A&M lands at #13.

You're the walmart of the SEC, which is fitting

I don't know what kind of Coach Strong will turn out to be at Texas. I suspect he may lose quite a few games this year. I do, however, like his approach to discipline and I see his approach paying off down the road.

Lol so still top 15 which is not even close.

Its cool though, may there is an Evans or JFF in their pile of three stars. We can be inspirational for them.

He's cutting corners just like Urban taught him. He's done it already.

Long term though he should be ok. I don't know if he will ever recruit better than Sumlin but I expect he can get Texas back into the national scene and recruit well enough to sustain.
