I am surprised A&M's is that high. I suppose they have a better pool of applicants and don't have to reject as many.

Imagine getting rejected by Kentucky.

Bama is giving scholarships to second-tier Louisiana kids.

By law, Texas must admit all in-state applicants who were ranked within the top 6% of their graduating class. Outside of those auto-admits, the acceptance rate is about 10%.

Meh, you can't put much stock in that. There are half a dozen ways to game those rates that universities will use to raise their scores for the various ratings rags/websites. Every year or two, the ratings groups revise how they measure it to take into account the latest gaming methods the U's have come up with.
For example, for several years back in the 00's, bama was giving everyone who applied an iTunes giftcard for $5, which is about what it cost to apply at the time. Their acceptance went to low double and even single digits for a year or two before the ratings orgs caught on.
Another things schools will do (UT Austin and Bama have both done it that I know of, I believe Aggie does as well) is that they will admit borderline students (low ACT/SAT or grades) in the summer as "provisional students" so that they don't count against their incoming Fall freshman class stats. The provisionals have to make a 3.0 to stay in school. I used to tutor them at UTexas.

I don't understand why UK's is that high. It could be a post-COVID acceptance rate hike, which a lot of public schools have been doing. The requirements to get in to some colleges are virtually nothing now.

I always find this a little bit overblown. I went to a school with a ~80% acceptance rate. But I could've gotten into any school on the list. Maaaaybe not Vanderbilt, but I think I could've done it. I just went in state where I wanted to go and where I could realistically afford.

As if Texas is the only state that has this kind of law.
Based on this criteria, just about all these other school's acceptance rates would be lower.
Texas is NOT on par academically with USC, Duke, UCLA, etc.

And yet you have a med school that 95% of ranters couldn't get into, and a law school that 75% couldn't.
So, again I say - overblown.

It’s because A&M’s “prestige” is a lie perpetuated by their weird obsessive cult alumni just like their “money”. They’re a very average academic school in the big scheme of things just like their entire wealth myth is based on their, again, cult alumni, desperately donating a disproportionate amount of their wealth to A&M’s endowment in an attempt to keep up with Texas

Ole Miss and State have the same entrance requirements as Jackson State. It’s set by the state of Mississippi. To combat that Ole Miss makes some of their freshman courses more difficult than normal so there’s a lot that flunk out after a semester or two. State does something similar

I did not realize that, but one thing I did notice while in school, was that most people dropped out freshman year, and those who made it past freshman year graduated (out of my friends). So this makes sense. Pretty interesting to hear that after all these years.

I believe Arkansas removed testing requirements during Covid and hasn't re-instated them. A way to improve "equity".
They still have minimum GPA requirements, though.

Weed out classes. I assumed that happened everywhere.
