Pay that man.

Already paid $8 million/year and has 7 years on contract. If UK wins 8 games this year, he automatically gets 2 years added to his contract and a $1.7 million added to his contract. Stoops is getting the indoor facility for football only and upgrades…his staff is top 10 paid in the nation.

Stoops also is 50% owner of bourbon distillery (William T Tarr Bourbon) and is making a lot of money selling the bourbon.

I just don’t see Stoops leaving Lexington unless Ohio State calls.

What? Are you high? AD had a press conference with Stoops after that fiasco, basically said cal needs to shut his mouth,

Nice interpretation of it. But the AD never actually refuted or disagreed with Cal. Mostly because Cal was right, UK is 1st and foremost a basketball school. At best basketball will share a small piece of their pie.

The AD tried, diplomatically to remind Cal not to say the quite part out load.

Baw, hate to break it you…but Mitch and Cal are not friends. Mitch would take Stoops over Cal in a heartbeat.

Lol Nice revision
Barnhart basically said everything is taking priority over the facility cal wants
quote:

“We’ll continue to look at our needs, but right now what’s in the queue for us is really, really important. It’s the renovations to Memorial Coliseum, which is due to begin probably sometime next year. We’ve got the plans for that already done. We’re working on some other thoughts around that which could help all of our programs. We got obviously the indoor track, which is being built. We got the plans for a new tennis facility… and then renovating the indoor (football) facility

quote:

“Where we are right now, (the Craft Center) it’s not a project that we’ve put on our strategic plan, but we’ll continue to look and see how we work through the things that help our basketball programs and make sure we’re doing all we can.”

And then the thinly veiled shot at cal
quote:

“They’ve (Stoops and Cal) been provided every opportunity to do the things they want to do to be successful. That isn’t changing as long as I’m in the chair. We will have that support. If that’s not good enough, coaches change a lot in today’s world. They do.

He wouldn't leave here for Nebraska, no matter what people say. They just fired a coach after 12 games.

Really??? Sorry but I don’t consider Nebraska a blueblood.

Iowa is on there because it’s where he went to school and played.

He's not leaving Kentucky for Nebraska.

It's wild the worl we live in now where the Kentucky job is way more attractive than Nebraska. He made it that way too.

Unless Stoops is offered 50%+ guaranteed money at Nebraska he would be a fool to take that job.

Kentucky is currently a better job than Nebraska

He publicly told Cal he wasn't getting his practice facility he wanted while announcing Stoops was getting the requested renovations to the indoor facility he asked for.

The reality is he's very likely to leave, it's just a calculation on his part as to when and for what.

That's no slight to Kentucky, it's just how it is. IMO Stoops is a good coach but there is a very significant chance he'll fail/endure mediocrity at a major job. Which is the reality for most coaches, even very good ones.

Because of that, he's got to consider whether or not jumping at a iffy job like Nebraska, which will make him very wealthy but which has major, inherent obstacles to success, is a good move. If he flames out at Nebraska will he be able to jump back in at a level comparable to Kentucky? I'm not sure.

FWIW I think he's probably in a similar boat as Matt Campbell. Jump to the job where you're well set up to succeed OR it's such a big leap up that it won't be held against you if you can't win there and have to drop back down.

They're borderline at best. And everyone outside of Nebraska has accepted that they are done as a program.

I don't know a single Cat fan worried he'd leave for Nebraska.
