why does he think The State is the university of south carolina's newspaper?

Why do you think an SEC website has anything to do with Clemson?

I never said it did. You and others push that false premise. I didn't even bring up Clemson.

The difference is he wins championships. Spurrier hasn't won anything of significance in 15 years.

He won the SEC East at South Carolina.

Think about that.

Florida was just as bad when he got there but people have forgotten that.

Florida was not "bad" when Spurrier got there. Not South Carolina bad.

So now that they're 7-6, his "enemies" are more afraid? Is that what he is saying?

Spurrier had a mid week, off season press conference 3 hours ago and we're at 13 pages.

Arkansas just lost their BBall team/season and tennnessee just has another player arrested today and they're at 1-4 pages....

People love talk' 'bout Spurrier.

.. He also had ESPN devoting entire segments to him and Finebaum just devoted his entire show to him. Evil genius.

This was obviously about recruiting..

I was enjoying SC flying under the radar this summer..

Can we agree that Florida was definitely not at an elite level when he arrived? Y'all had some inconsistent teams and the program never really got itself together before him. Well it looked like it might but then all of it went up in NCAA charges and some rather wild and salacious happenings in Gainesville.

Just watched Spurrier's "press conference". I like Spurrier. I don't like that he owns us, but, he's a great coach and good for the game and the conference.
That being said- that video was pathetic. It reeks of insecurity and fear of impending irrelevance. It communicates nothing positive regarding USC's program, only personal egoic desperation.

OBC knows his cocks is fricked. His team is in the shitter, and other coaches are rubbing their sack on his face about age and his leaving at the end of the year. It's over.

While I don't know that I can fully with PortlyDawg, older coaches sometimes get strange when it nears the end.

Look no further than Mississippi State and Ron Polk.

I wish a much better ending for both the OBC and the Gamecocks than that.

Look at the East that year though:

#22 South Carolina 9-5
Florida 8-5
Georgia 6-7
Tennessee 6-7
Kentucky 6-7
Vanderbilt 2-10

Florida wasn't bad, but neither was South Carolina. Holtz got SC going and Spurrier just took it to another level.

Btw, what was the stupid press conference about? Was Spurrier complaining about his mailman or something?

Spurrier has been gone since the moment he got here. He was supposed to go to Alabama when that job opened, and he was supposed to go to Miami, too. Instead, he's the second-longest tenured coach in the conference. Some of what he said today had some merit, in that everyone else in the conference wants USC to be perpetually irrelevant and an automatic victory on the schedule.

I have no idea how much longer he's going to be here. But I do think he's built something at Carolina that can be sustained and enhanced by his successor. The facilities and infrastructure improvements that have taken place under his watch are nothing short of transformative. Compare the stadium area in '04 to what it looks like now, and it's night-and-day different. He's certainly leaving the place in much better shape than when he found it.

If Carolina is as good as he thinks they are this season, they'll be right back to challenging for the division.

Wow, those were some shitty football teams. I had successfully erased that football season from my memory bank, until now

ETA: just watched the video, it comes off as insecure. I’m confused by the timing and constant reference to “enemies”. If he is referring to the AJC, then he is unaware of the crap they spew about UGA. SCAR fans have to admit it was a strange presser. I hope we was drunk

That press conference was the brakes coming off. The coming Spurrier/South Carolina train wreck will truly be glorious to behold.
