im not trying to say A&M is going to be anything better than average in hoops this year, but this result is pretty meaningless. 2nd best player is being eased back from injury and a top 3 player didnt even play. SFA is also pretty good and clearly played to win a practice by the minutes distribution.

Reminds me of a few years ago when a big 10 team lost to a itt tech type basketball team and still made the final 4 that year.

a sweet 16 A&M team lost to a middle of the pack B12 Texas team last year too. A&M held out their projected starting point guard due to suspension while UT played a starter with bone spurs in his heel for 30 minutes.

It’s the beginning of the end for Kennedy (thank god), and this year is going to get ugly AF. Not quite Melvin Watkins 0-16 in the big 12 bad....but close.

The Lumberjacks beat LSU in basketball last year 83-82.

I know this thread is just going to turn into "pile on Billy Kennedy" but Stephen F. Austin is a very solid program and these games are used for experimenting with lineups more than anything. I expect A&M to be better than expectations this season. Looks like TJ Starks had a good game; he needs to be "the guy."

Surprised at how small ball A&M's lineup looks from a minute standpoint, though. Expected more minutes from Nebo and Mekowulu.

Lol no it's not. I'd bet on an 8-10 season from A&M and an NIT appearance.

I've never seen a more "sky is falling" fanbase than A&M basketball.

No question that Billy Kennedy is a nice, moral, godly man.

However he has never been able to coach D1 basketball.

He will eventually (this year, please?) move on. The Big Money Aggies are not into basketball and that is the reason we keep getting the Kermit Davis's (caught cheating), Tony Barone's, ($#%^&* all you people!) Mark Turgeon's (why don't the fans show up to see horrible basketball????), Melvin Watkins ( I have no idea what is going on), Billy Kennedy's (let's pray about this) of the coaching world.

There is a huge talent base in Dallas, Houston and Louisiana and we get a lot of those guys. The problem is coaching them up to D1 players.

However the OP did not expect this thread to go this way. It seems the other school fans thought there would be some negative reaction from the Aggies. Sadly enough we know what is going on here in basketball and have faced reality. A NIT appearance would be charity.

The infamous Aaron Epps UNCONTESTED missed layup at the buzzer...

Your prediction is reasonable, and you aint kidding about our fanbase. I love my fellow Ags, but for some reason we can't see reason when it comes to evaluation of Kennedy.

For this to be true aggies would have to give a frick about basketball in the first place. I don’t get worked up over Aggie b-ball anymore. Objectively, this will be a really bad year, without post-season play.

I said last year SFA would beat lsu and a certain LSU fan said I didn't know anything about basketball. I'll try and dig up the gamethread from last year on the other side.

No shame in dropping a close one to the Lumberjacks. SFA is a solid program.

Just be glad it was only a scrimmage. LSU lost a heartbreaker to them last year, still hurts. Epps missed a layup at the buzzer.
