If Western Kentucky can pull out the Conference USA title, the great state of Kentucky will have 5 teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Kentucky
Murray State
Northern Kentucky
Louisville
Western Kentucky

Not a brag so don't roast me for this post but kind of a rare thing for our state. I'd say the NCAA will draw record ratings from the state of Kentucky for the tournament.

Looking at Lunardi's latest projection, it looks like Virginia will be the only state with more participating schools (6 schools by my count), although not all of those are locks. New York is close behind with 5 schools projected to make it.

The state of Missouri will have...well...zero. At least it's baseball season?

I want to say the state of TN has done something like that in recent years. Vols, Vandy, MTSU, Belmont, Memphis. Wouldn't be surprised if Lipscomb, ETSU, tech, UTC made it 6 or 7 one year. I would look up but seems time consuming.

Kentucky is a basketball crazy state.

Not the same since it is such a big state, but didn't Texas get like 7 teams in last year?

If Georgia Southern or Georgia State can take the Sun Belt tournament then Georgia may get one in?

The four other teams actually have Kentuckians that play, unlike UK.

Yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't trade rosters with UK.

It should also be stated that there are only 7 DI teams in the state. Virginia is projected to have 6 teams in but they have twice as many universities.

And not a dollar paid to any of the player from either school. Congrats.

In fact never has any team ever done such a thing. Only that new coach at LSU.

Will you pull for the other Kentucky teams to win? I assume Louisville is a no.

I may be the odd duck but I usually pull for Louisville as well in the tournament. I want to see them do well. I mean I'll get Tremendous (note the capital T) enjoyment when they lose but I usually don't actively cheer against them.

Its easier to cheer for them now that Rick Pitino and his corrupt Athletic director are gone. Chris Mack seems likable and the only player I find hatable is the holdover flopper from the Pitino era. I know its the white guy and his name starts with an M. All he does is flop and hit the occasional three but his flops are just filthy. Not even Grant Williams quality.

So why doesn't UK have anyone in their rotation from the state? I'm just wondering, because I was thinking when was the last time the above happened

Charles Bassey is the best player in the state.

Kentucky doesn't have great high school basketball players. Northern probably has the most Kentucky kids with 4 or 5 including walk-ons.

We have Kenny Paynes kid who played in Lexington but he's redshirting.

Generally speaking though the state of Kentucky talent hasn't been as good as the rest of the nations top 50. If theres a top 50 kid from the state Cal would likely offer but he's rarely just offers some kid because he's from the state. No point in offering a kid thats never gonna play.

Gotcha.

It's just strange how a basketball crazy state doesn't produce high level players any more. UK has turned into the Notre Dame of Basketball. Neither can find any recruits worth bringing in from their home state. Of course South Bend sometimes feels the Vatican

Belmont and Lipscomb choked it away this year. ETSU are always a threat with Forbes to make it but I don't see Vandy, Memphis, or MTSU getting in anytime soon
