Looks like the diamonds outperformed the blue chips.

We can only hope you are purposely saying something stupid to get a response.

They honestly do, but the untold story is that matter way more to certain positions than others. Look at the all pro list last year, the defense was almost all former five/four star recruit, the offensive side was about 50 percent blue chip. The hit rate on blue chip dline men making the league is insanely high. Offensive line is the exact opposite.

I actually love Alabama and Bama fans, definitely my favorite SEC team behind the Tigers. Classy people and a classy program. I’m not lying, Roll Tide.

One would have more success trying to teach a dog calculus, any current Auburn quarterback what the forward pass is and a LSU fan how to use deodorant than trying to explain statistics on this website.

Good data. Imo offensive linemen are the easiest to predict to the pros. Somebody like Latham and Amarius Mims have been first round picks since the frigging 11th grade. They're just too big and too purtty. It's been that way at Alabama for a while now and been that way at Georgia for the last 4 or 5 years.

It's not just automatic. You aren't going in the first round because of your high school press clippings.

Oh, it makes a pretty big difference. Not an offensive lineman, and not first round pick, but:

LSU had 3 defensive linemen drafted. 2 were productive but weren't 5 stars; Mehki Wingo was the best and a 3 star in high school. He went in the 6th rd. Jordan Jefferson was solid, but mostly just a rotational guy, also a 3 star. He was bigger, and went in the 4th.
Maason Smith had a good freshman year, missed a season with injury, and played very underwhelming when he came back. By far the least effective of the three. He was a 5 star, and went in the 2nd rd.

What percentage of Saban's OL recruits who were top 10 prospects overall drafted in the first round? 80-90 percent?

I agree with the premise that 5* OT hit at a higher rate than many other positions such as QB.

But its not 100%. Some of these guys play low level HS and when exposed to elite edge guys get chewed up.

Others like Love and Brockermeyer are being ranked as a 5* based on potential rather than their current level of play. If either of them had committed to the weight room and shown a mean streak they would both be in the NFL right now.
