And this is where I went from 99% to 100% that this didnt happen. St Louis doesn't really have any gangs, or gang issues.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm ... lulz. Okey dokey.

My bad scrooster, I thought you had been paying attention to the last few threads so I wasn't clear enough

Now let me catch you up. We all, and I mean damn near everyone on this rant, now knows when talking about crime in st louis it comes from North county/city. North county is 15-20 minutes away from downtown. The tournament is downtown. Why the frick would anyone care about an area that has little to no effect to where everyone will be? That would be like saying "I love Columbia sc, its the greatest city ever!" "O ya, Ive only been to lake Murray", like wtf. When I said St Louis and its gang problems, I wasn't talking about north county, I was talking about the other 90% of st louis.

Now, go back to the other thread and ready up, because obviously you're far behind.

St Louis media guys are in the press conference room telling people not to swim across the river from the arena after the game unless they’re in a crowd. What a great place to have this event.

I believe the OP deserves a fair representation of the situation here in St. Louis. I concur with the description of the River City Casino and its environs. However, the situation in the city of St. Louis is one where I cannot recommend being carefree and strolling around downtown St. Louis, the Loop, South Grand or the Central West End without being supremely aware of what is going on around you and who is near. The events of Ferguson and the reaction of the police have emboldened the criminals. They are now doing things in the open and in areas where they never would have tried things before.

Make sure you travel at least in pairs, more if possible.

Keep in well lit areas, do not wander.

Do not park your car unless there is an attendant, and even then it might not be safe.

Keep your mobile phone and any money out of sight and in your front pocket.

Carry a purse across your chest.

Avoid Metrolink. If you must, seek a car with a Metro cop on it. Stand near a Metrocop on the platform. If there isn't a cop around take a cab.

Sorry, but that's reality. This is free of political comment and reflects my best advice for a St. Louis visitor.

With all of that said, both quoted from other sites and within this thread ... I've been to St Louis a half a dozen times and never been robbed, shot-at or beaten.

I'm a bigger guy though and rough looking and I always traveled in groups. I remained situationally aware at all times as I was used to Memphis which suffers from a very similar reputation.

Enjoyed my visit to the Missouri Civil War Museum, found it incredibly interesting, and the people I ran into, for the most part, were always hospitable.

I have not been back since the whole Ferguson, BLM, Antifa uprisings but have been told the bad element has become emboldened and moved into the river district and downtown area in the past few years.

I chose not to attend the tourney this year, and I was on a six year streak, because I've seen everything I need to see in St Louis at least once and prefer Branson and CoMo to St Louis when I am in Missouri.

According to St Louis Today, the St Louis city and county LEOs have increased their presence downtown for this tourney, especially around the Scottrade arena ... that's not unusual. That's just smart.

I drove through it once and the traffic sucked.

Kansas City seems like a better place.

Native St Louis people give helpful advice to ignorant tourists and somehow the town sucks.

Everyone knows there is no crime or dangerous areas in Nashville or Atlanta or New Orleans.

When I was 11, we went to the top of the Gateway Arch. It was December and snowy outside, and as my family and I looked out the windows of the observation deck and to the ground below, it was there that I saw it..... A giant dick made of snow

St. Louis is a terrible city. For shame!

For real though, I got a good vibe from Kansas City from my limited time there.

I like that part of the country.

Based on what info?

I've never been to St. Louis, but the stats say this:

Murder rate in St. Louis is 29.1 per 100,000
Atlanta is 7.8 per 100,000

I live a block off of Florida Blvd in Baton Rouge. Walking around St. Louis is like a trip to the English countryside for me.

I think everyone knows that st louis sucks and the only people who stay there are in the federal witness relocation program or can’t sell their house.

this is how you rate crime LINKareas. The whole area not just a small section of it. St. Louis is not even in the top 50.
