Dude, I've lived in Tennessee for my entire life. I am an LSU sidewalker (family from LA-multiple family members LSU alum-sister went to LSU, etc..) and I can personally say that I know dozens and dozens of UT fans.
Not once in my 25 years have I heard a UT fan or alum say they care more about Bama than UF. UT fans fricking hate Florida.

Imagine that. And UT has only played Florida 42 times and 23 of them have been since 1990.
Stick that in your tradition.

Oh and to add even more weight to my statement about UT fans, my SO is born and raised in Knoxville. Dad is a UT alum. He hates UF. It's all he talks about. 3 years of being together and never once have I seen him throw a "party" for the TSIO.
But guess what game he throws a party for EVERY year?

It is when the inequality isn't coming from the rotating schedule, but more from the permanent rivals
So really what we are talking here(For LSU fans) is the last 10 years(2002 and on). 10 fricking years. in that time period bama has gone from rock bottom to the top, as well as other schools. Hell auburn has done it a few times
quote:
Yea, every what, 6 years? gimme a break
Yes, what else do you expect? should we go back to LSU not playing UGA for what like 25 years at one point.

Eliminate all permanent cross divisional games
wont happen with 2 7 team divisions in a 12 game schedule. you are just going to have to concede that its traditions that keep CFB afloat. its traditions that created the game we all love. it's tradtions why it isnt the NFL
quote:
No it's not.
Again, if you can't see it. you got your blinders on.

The same thing could be said about teams wanting to preserve tradition. What makes their opinions weigh any more than the teams who don't think the traditions should be protected?
So its okay to use tradition as one argument but not okay to use it another? come on now
quote:
The conference should not protect tradition. That's not their job
The SEC is founded upon tradition and prides itself upon it. so yes it is
quote:
[bitching about playing florida]No
quote:
Bama should absolutely have to play UF as much as LSU. And so should Miss. St. And Auburn. And Arkansas. etc.
just admit it, thats what your/LSU's argument really comes down to

I live in GA, from Ohio and I have heard UT fans talk about thier hatred for bama in both places, numerous times. Hell my sidewalk UT fan cousin from Ohio talks about bama all the time and he has never even been to knoxville

I don't feel like quoting any more stuff and responding as it takes forever.
But you asked if I had beef with playing UF. I said no. My beef is that everyone should play everyone ore often. Not just Bama.
Also check out the roommate switch proposal. I read it the other day and it keeps all of the "traditional" games that "need to be protected". (even though nobody GAF about TSIO).

here's your sign.

Again, I went to Middle Tenn State. Everyone from Tenn that goes there is actually a UT fan. Not to mention 3/4 (or so it seems) of my HS graduating class went to UT. And I'm in Knoxville probably a dozen times a year. I go to more UT games than LSU games.
I promise they care more about UF than Bama. Or at least the few dozen I know do.

Yep, I've heard UT fans talk about Bama hatred too. Maybe it's possible to hate UF & Bama

I know a lot more than 20. And it's not they don't dislike Bama. But they don't care as much about the rivalry as much as they do the rivalry with UF.
In other words, it's not viewed as this sacred rivalry like some of you posters on here try to make it out to be.

I asked if the issue was playing florida. and it is. yall dont want to play florida every year. (I dont mean everyone) IT all comes back to UT having a down period and Florida being on the up period. and to enhance it a little further. It all comes down to bama. And if you disagree with the bama comment, then why is bama's schedule vs LSU's pretty much the only talking point of the argument?

I've read it. it still has issues. Like I stated previously, no solution will not have problems. Someone is going to bitch and moan. The bridge schedule has just brought it to the forefront.

And yea, he lived in the dorms for 3 years. Got his MBA. etc..
And the man hates UF. Hell, he still hates Spurrier.
He also hates Saban. But not because of the rivalry. He just thinks he's scum.

Spurrier needs to heed Dirty Harry's advice when he stated "Sometimes, a man's got to know his limitations." sic
Not to mention originality, but making UA-UT and AU-GA non-conference games has been mentioned ad nauseum. OBC needs to come up with some new material or stick to just working on his handicap this time of year

This was the simplest solution and was offered up years ago. Maybe with Spurrier behind the plan it will pick up some supporters. Let's all rotate, UT-Bama feel free to continue playing, your game just might be a non-conference game some years. Everyone gets what they want...a more balanced schedule for everyone, and the Tide-Vols get to keep the game that seems to be holding up scheduling evolution.
I'm not against this as a Bama fan. The only thing that gets really irritating is this idea that this is all about Alabama/Tennessee as if Auburn and Georgia have nothing to do with helping to keep the permanent opponent and it's just mean ole Bammer holding everybody up.

I know I hate UGA and Bama, with UF to a lesser extent
Some Aubs hate UGA more than Bama, Some hate Bama more than UGA.

Do you think UF fans reciprocate this? I believe most of them hate UGA more than UT
