To be fair, Spurrier has always said that he plans on moving back to Florida (presumably near Gainesville) when his time is done at SC, and will "keep a place" in Columbia. I don't think there is any doubt that his heart lies with UF, and we shouldn't expect anything else.
And if you're looking for a link to the above statement, I think he said it on the Dan Patrick Show, which should be on YouTube.
When he goes back to Florida it will be to live in St Augustine full time while coming back to SC occasionally to visit with the grandkids.
He intends to retire at 72. He says, "72 sounds par for the course."

I mean, after all Spurrier won the Heisman & played at UF. Why did he ever leave after he became HC at UF if he is so committed to the ideal you said he believed in above?
This analogy only works if Spurrier was trying to go back to UF and use his old office or something.
These kids, OTOH, are still trying to utilize the benefits of being former Gamecock players. If you do that then yeah, you owe the program something in return.
How hard is it to show your face for a few minutes? And even if you can't, how hard is it to write a stinking letter of apology for not being able to show?
I see no problem here.

I hear that the Whitney Hotel has a good gym.
I'm sure a lot of players are familiar with it.
