In the spirit of having some actual conversation as Triple Daves started, so much has been made of the Bama D and the qb that I honestly don't know a ton about bama on the offensive trenches...how has their play been this year and how do you expect them to perform against LSU's dline?

Honestly, I think it's our best offensive line since 2012. And I think Cam has been the 3rd or 4th best member of it. They are elite run blockers and above average pass blockers.

I haven't watched LSU enough to see their improvements since last year, but based on stats they will be seriously tested. Probably more so than they have all year. A&M was a good test, but their run defense is a bit soft.

it's a typical Alabama offensive line though the comparison to the 2012 squad seems a bit generous

we actually stole a page out of Auburn's book and do a lot of QB read option runs (which we bitched and moaned about for years only to adopt once we got a qb that could do it - whoops) which can negate a great defensive line and get big QB runs

No no, not comparing them. Best SINCE 2012. They are not 2012.

Able to knock any dline back in and shove the ball right down their throats.Needs work in pass protection. Thanks for asking.

The coaches made some adjustments beginning of the season, and now I think they are strong group.

How is your OL, I know you lost some tackles to the NFL.

they looked really good last week.

Where are the weak spots? Where are the strengths? I know LSU has a few players that are much better run blockers than pass blockers. Bama have anything like that?

Much better since they moved Pierschbacher from C back to LG. Bozeman has done well at C.

Alphonse Taylor hasn't played in two weeks because of a concussion but Lester Cotton had played well stepping in at RG.

Cam looked his best last week in my opinion, and true freshman Jonah Williams at RT has probably been the best of the bunch.

Cam has been pretty up and down all year. He's been beat a few times badly by good pass rushers like Barnett (Key will have shots). Jonah Williams is the best, most consistent player on the line as a true freshman. The guards struggled a bit early but they have excelled as of late. Really just an overall solid unit.

I will add, though, that we have not faced a great run stuffing unit yet like Auburn or LSU. USC is solid, but Arkansas and Ole Miss are awful and A&M is very average.

based on stats

Are you combining the stats for both of LSU's OCs this season?

Asking for a friend.

Pretty dang solid. Have improved steadily. LT Cam Robinson had not played as well as last year, but much closer to it lately. Freshman RT playing very well. Interior guys playing well too. But LSU D will be toughest they've faced.

LT: Malone
LG: Clapp
C: Pocic
RG: Boutte
RT: Teuhema

Weathersby will play some at tackle
Dodd will play center when Pocic plays tackle

Our Oline has shifted a ton with injuries, its really hard to say who are starting 5 will be and what positions they will play against Bama.

Its really a mixed batch of guys. The interior is much better than the tackles. Boutte has a slow first step, its only natural seeing as if he's 340, but it has hurt him at times. Pocic is a tackle playing center. At 6'7, its hard for him to get leverage on some DTs. That being said, he is probably our most talented Olinemen. Clapp has played well, but injuries are killing him. Teuhema is one of the least athletic tackles I've seen play. He is pretty clearly a guard playing tackle. Idk why he is still out there at tackle, he gets dominated by speed rushers, I expect Tim Williams to abuse him. Malone has looked better since week 1. I think Etling has helped him a ton because he steps up into the pocket as plays develop unlike Harris.

Yep. By far. As with most years, the LSU game will show us who the men are and who the pretenders are.

I have watched you guys play twice live and I will say that honestly Jonah may be the best player on the line...a little shocked they haven't flipped him and Cam. Granted, it could be that Jonah has looked better bc he isn't in one-on-ones vs the best pass rushers yet.

Our o-line vs y'alls dline is still the biggest advantage you have over us. I'm hoping with the zone schemes and a healthy dillon gordon we stand a better chance of getting to the line of scrimmage untouched more than last year (100% certain you will still have some tfl's but how many times was lf met in the backfield last year?)

I'm not going into this game with the crazy p&g glasses I have had the last few. Just pumped to get to be in tiger stadium for the first time in two years (moved to Waco, TX and work schedule hasn't allowed me home yet). Went to the bama game in tuscaloosa last year and was in awe of the dominant defensive performance.

Gotcha.

Yes, they faced some decent offenses (looked stout against Auburn), but not the quality of offensive line Alabama will bring.

Loves these games. Always a great trip. I'm sure this one will be a physical war that will come down to the 4th as usual in Baton Rouge.
