The South Carolina football program announced Wednesday the Gamecocks will have a future series with the Virginia Tech Hokies in 2034 and 2035.
The Gamecocks will host the Hokies in the first game on Sept. 16 and go to Blacksburg for the second on Sept. 15.
”By adding Virginia Tech to our future football schedules, it gives us a quality opponent with a regional matchup,” athletics director Ray Tanner said in a statement. “Coach Muschamp and I are looking to fill our non-conference schedule with teams that would be appealing for our fans and supplement our already-tough Southeastern Conference slate with opponents that our squad will be excited to play. I hope we can make more of these announcements in the near future.”
This will be the 21st and 22nd times the teams face off. USC leads the series 11-7-2 dating back to 1905. USC is on a 4-0-2 run, which took place from 1986 to 1991.
“We’re excited to add South Carolina to our schedule, renewing a series that has its roots in the Southern Conference,” VT AD Whit Babcock said. “Columbia, S.C. is also another drivable trip for our fans to a venue where the Hokies haven’t played since the early 1990s. With eight future games against SEC opponents on our schedules, we feel very confident about the strength of our scheduling going forward, as well as its appeal to our fans across the region.”
Last week, USC announced a series with the Miami Hurricanes

I love that we're making real home and homes rather than playing in Charlotte with a steady rotation of NC school. It sucks that it has to be so far in the future. Hope it doesn't get cancelled along the way like our series with GT did.
That Miami home and home kicks off in 2026.
These two series are about the only good things Tanner has done.

Hopefully by that time we will have won a few championships, and Clemson will suck again.

Why in the holy hell are you scheduling home and homes with ANY power 5 school with a pulse when you play Clemson every year? Right now until Clemson falters or USCe gets a LOT better you’re starting the season 0-1. Why are you making this so hard on yourself?
quote:by making it that much harder for you to have a winning record? Tanner has screwed you royally.

The kids that will be playing in that game are currently 3-5 years old. The presumption that you or I have any idea what kind of shape either of the programs will be in by then is absurd.
Not to mention fans simply want more exciting/interesting match-ups to get excited about or spend their money on regardless of other considerations.
Again. It's at terrible, terrible take.

I'll be in my mid to upper 40s by then... Jesus Christ.

Nothing like a little planning ahead.

The snowflakes will have football banned by then. It's hard to play football in socialist dystopia.
