Drew has a much bigger talent base to draw from here as opposed to Waco.
The rebuild wouldn't take as long as people think.

How exactly is it underrated? They have one of the worst historical winning percentages in the SEC
what does winning percentage have to do with it? That’s why it’s underrated. We’ve performed well below our means throughout history.
UGA plays in a competitive conference, has considerable money, has an AD who wants to take the program to next level, and is less than 100 miles from one of the best talent pools in the country.
An anonymous SEC head coach talked about it in an Athletic article this year.

Certain people like challenges. Drew is one of those.
No shite.
Remember what he walked into at the morally bankrupt scandal farm that is Baylor Athletics:
quote:
Drew took over a program left in a shambles as a result of the scandal. Nearly every top player from the 2002–03 Bears had transferred after school officials granted a full release to every player on the team. Additionally, Baylor had placed itself on probation until 2005 and withdrawn from postseason play for the 2003–04 season. Drew led a decimated roster to an 8–21 record in his first season.
Shortly after Drew's first season, Baylor extended its self-imposed probation until 2006 and docked itself several scholarships and paid recruiting visits through 2006. The NCAA imposed further sanctions in 2005, extending Baylor's probation until 2010, docking the Bears three paid visits in 2006–07 and banning the Bears from non-conference play in the 2005–06 season.

Georgia will be a cakewalk opposed to what he walked into at Baylor.

Georgia is an underrated basketball job and a couple of SEC coaches anonymously said it’s a Top 3 job in the SEC.
However, there’s no freaking way. It would be like Ryan Day leaving for A&M or something
Maybe Drew feels he's accomplished all he can at Baylor.
Like I said, if Josh pulls this off, he's the fricking man.

First off, he’s playing the system for a raise. Period.
Second, whoever says the Big12 is getting weaker is only looking at all time wins and trophies from years and years ago. Last year we saw Cincinnati make the playoffs, Houston nearly go undefeated and beat an SEC team in a bowl game, BYU stay ranked in the top 25 most of the season and UCF win 9 games and go bowling.
On the flip side we saw Oklahoma have their 5 star QB leave as well as their head coach and Texas have it’s worse season in 60 plus years.
Revenue wise I get it, Tex and OU are big dogs but as far as the product on the field, they might be yesterdays news.

If Scott Drew accepted a Georgia job offer, Georgia should immediately cut the negotiations because if he’s stupid enough to take that job he isn’t smart enough to make it work.

This story is absolute bullshite. No way this even remotely happens.

It took Drew five years to reach the tournament being located in Texas. He would never make it in Georgia. It takes time to turn a historically bad program to elite. Some of the coaching greats struggled building and with patience they turned it around. Georgia needs modest expectations first if they ever want to get out of the hole they are in.

As long as none of UGA's players have murdered each other and your outgoing coach hasn't tried to smear the memory of the murdered player by accusing them of being a drug dealer to try to cover up the coach's illegal payment schemes... yeah, major cake walk compared to Baylor.
If fact, came walk might still be an understatement.

Zero chance this happens. If Drew was looking to bounce for a better opportunity he'd take Louisville.

This obviously isn’t true but if Drew is leaving Baylor to take a SEC job he will be at Mizzou next year
Posted on 3/11/22 at 10:35 pm to JesusQuintana
That would be a tremendous hire if Georgia were able to pull it off. You'd certainly have our attention all of a sudden.

At least if it came down to which town I was going to live in, I'd live in Athens all day and all night long. Great state to live in and recruit. Florida beaches to the south, Atlantic to east. Master's Golf.
But Coach Drew at Baylor is a godly place for him now.

If UGA is a top 3 coaching job then Mizzou is up there with Kentucky and Arkansas (???) for the top three jobs fighting for the top spot in the SEC.
I'm almost 40 and I cant remember a time where UGA basketball wasn't a complete dumpster fire.
So if 40 years of being a burning dumpster makes you a top 3 job in the SEC then Mizzou being the best school to not make a final 4(article a couple years ago when Mizzou and Tennessee were final 4 contenders, had Mizzou #1 Tennessee #2) completely jumps over UGA by a mile.

One of the dumbest takes I've seen on here. And that's saying something.
