I sense very little animosity between the two fan bases. Alabama and Auburn fans on the other hand want to kill each other.
It's a heated sports rivalry, not a clash of civilizations.

Not a rivalry at all. It’s more of a love fest or showcase. Almost every post on this board has been evidence of that. They also have a 30 year history of making all of their decisions together. They’re even renovating their stadium together as we speak. Calling it a rivalry is an insult to real college traditions.

Most Texas fans don't know many actual Oklahoma fans.. and the same is true in reverse.. but this is changing.. A lot of Texas kids are going to college out of state these days.. Oklahoma and Arkansas are two of the biggest beneficiaries..
The State of Texas desperately needs at least 1 public school to step up as a legitimate Tier 1 alternative to Texas or Texas A&M.
Kids are leaving the state for college in mass numbers..
As for the hatred of Texas and Oklahoma.. If you love college football, you really should go to this game at least once. You won't question the hate between the teams after that.. it's truly a great environment.. and almost like a window to the way college football was 20-30 years ago..

Going to the PAC(together), staying in the B12(just to stay together), and joining the SEC(together) are the big three. I’ve never seen them differ on a smaller issue either.
The stadium renovation is the Cotton Bowl. Y’all got together to decorate and agree to stay another decade or so just a few months back.

A Missouri fan who doesn't understand the value in having a dancing partner.. color me shocked..

All these manufactured rivalries that came about due to teams in our division will very soon go gently into the night. It's over.
With the shorthorns and sooners, new hated rivals will soon develop and new animosity will quickly grow. Just the nature of the beast. Personally, I was over Tennessee long ago. Whether they admit it or not they are more than tired of getting run over by us. This once-historic rivalry reminds me a lot of the way Bedlam has played out for over a decade and a half now.
Let's all just move on.

Dancing partner is a much more fitting term than rival.

This doesn't quite show a "30 year history of making all our decisions together", champ.

Most of what you listed above took place over the course of a couple of months when you tramps ran off to the SEC with aggot because you were broke and needed a bigger welfare check.
What "smaller issues" are we talking about here?

The Cotton Bowl belongs to the city of Dallas. We have shite to do with it other than renewing our contract to play there. Renovations are the city of Dallas' decision, not ours, and we aren't the only teams that play there. It's the fricking COTTON BOWL, amateur.

It ain’t it the same stratosphere as the iron bowl.

I'm sure it is a great environment, and I wouldn't mind going to the game one day. I've been to a few Iron Bowls and have had more exposure to the complete and utter hatred Alabama and Auburn fans have for each other, so maybe my opinion is skewed. But Texas and OU fans hardly talk any shite to each other at all on here. There's far more venom spewed between Texas and A&M.

Alabama looks down on Auburn
Auburn thinks Alabama is an entitled little bitch
Texas looks down on Texas A&M
A&M thinks Texas is an entitled little bitch
Texas respects Oklahoma
Oklahoma respects Texas
On gameday, the hate flows.. but that is the difference.. of course, Texas has gotten our asses kicked by OU since 2000, so it would be pretty stupid for us to talk shite to them.. We know better.

It certainly exceeds UGA-Florida
It’s way behind the iron bowl
The Cotton Bowl, split down the middle, during the State Fair, 190 miles from each campus, is a unique setting in all of sports.

It was a big deal when Darrell Royal was an All-American, for OU, in 1949.
Texas-OU was always on TV when you could only be on TV 3 times a year, other than the OU probation years.
OU weekend in Dallas, with Commerce Street (~ main street) closed off on Friday night, was something to be experienced, before the age of random gun violence.

We don't talk to each other at all, and have never had a shared internet forum where posters from both sides coexist on the same platform before.

The games suck that weekend, not that big of deal to get that slot.
Florida/Tenn would normally get it but both teams have sucked the last few years.
Maybe Ole MiSS/LSU is a better game, but both teams like OU and UTx are mid to upper middle SEC teams.

It's because we've had an unwritten truce since the move to the SEC was announced everyone from the commissioner to the fans from the Big-12 was on the attack.
It's almost over you'll see the hate return once the Football season starts.
