I bet half the people there had never set foot in the park. Maybe this will finally get them some fan support. I understand that expansion of the seating area is supposed to already be in the pipeline, but they have a lot of catching up to do.

Imo if OU can keep winning baseball will be supported almost as much as softball . The new stadium is going to be finished this year i believe and I bet season tickets will be he highest on record for baseball. Not saying we will compete attendance wise with the top of the sec or anything but it will be a step up from where we have been . . They said we sold out last few weeks of season .

There are two main reasons for that...

1) Skip Johnson basically spent his entire career in Texas before he came to OU... So his connections down there are really deep.

2) In baseball... Sadly, OU has had a hard time getting Oklahoma HS players to pick them over OSU given OSU's better facilities and more consistent success in baseball over the last 40 or so years.

Funny thing is that OU has had more success in Omaha than the Pokes the few times they have gotten there.

They have had a bit of an uptick in attendance since the '22 team and playing in the SEC has helped immensely. There were a couple of times this year that OU baseball had a big series and competed at the same time as softball... and baseball had 4K just like softball...

But OU has three main problems in baseball...besides softball

1) The weather in March and sometimes April isn't good and people just don't show up if it is too cold.

2) The season is the exact same time of the year as the last half of the Thunder basketball season and people are paying attention to that.

3) OU fans are spoiled. Next year...Baseball fans will show up because we won the NC this year... but they will drop off if OU isn't staying at an elite level. We saw this happen in the 1990s. OU had three CWS teams between 1992 and 1995... Crowds got big... then we dropped off and by about 2000 they were back to being sparse.
