I actually think the majority of SEC teams will perform better in games that are called more tightly than in years past. The SEC was much more physical and less "skilled" in the past, but at this point there are more teams that flourish when able to have freedom of movement on offense and defense relatively well without fouling than usual.
Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri are all in that group (though Mizzou would have foul issues due to their defensive style of play). Auburn would flourish that way as well, but they can win either way really.
Obviously, as usual, would be a major issue for Texas A&M and Tennessee, but even Tennessee is a little less geared that way this year than years past (A&M is certainly not).

I've watched all our games and have yet to see the ticky tack crew. I've seen them call some good fouls that look ticky tack after all the mugging they've allowed in the first half. It's nuts.
Can you tie a ball up for a jump ball by wrapping your arms around a players back or head/shoulders and it not be a foul? This and the moving screen calls seem to have gone the way of the dodo for most games I've seen. Traveling is reaching NBA level absurdity too.

SoG you've got more of a pulse on the metrics that matter than most anyone here -
where do you see St John's/Pitino being seeded and how do they stack up with Auburn Bama Tennessee Florida - ? or Duke?
eta - found SJU on your 4 line

How do you see this shaking out after the games so far this week?

St Johns pretty clearly the 3-5 seed that every #1/2 seed wants absolutely zero to do with in a Sweet 16 game, primarily due to Pitino.

Plus Pitino gets revenge.

Yeah, no one wants that matchup. There's a pretty clear path forward against them for decent defensive teams, though. They play great defense, but they don't shoot all that well, especially from three. They're top 4 in 2 point shooting percentage and percent of points from 2, but below 340 on three point shooting and percent of points scored.
Teams that can guard well on the ball and pack the lane can cause them trouble. Scoring enough would be the issue, though. Which is why them playing UCLA would be an interesting game. I like this SJ team, they've been fun to watch, but I want no part of them in the tournament.

Yep - if they were just a team with their profile and didn't have that guy in charge they really wouldn't be a team that you would fear in a S16 (maybe even kind of look forward to getting depending on the whistle you got).
But Pitino is uniquely better than anybody in the history of the sport in that tournament setting regardless of the team he has. And he has a team that he can do some stuff with. Stay very far away.
