When that happens, Alabama will hire the best there is available and it won't be someone from Arkansas.

They probably thought that after Bear too, and ended up spinning their wheels for a bit with the exception of the Stallings era.

Alabama would hire the best replacement available at the time and it won't be anyone from Arkansas.

Bama should fricking hire Josh. He's a good guy and a hard worker.

I think a lot of rivals are a bit too hopeful about the immediate decline after Saban.

It is only likely to be an immediate shite show if there is already a decline in recruiting and competitive stature under Saban. If Saban retires and continues to bring in top 5 classes until he leaves then I would assume that Alabama's next man will be something along the lines of Les Miles.

Les Miles underachieved given the talent he inherited but he still nabbed a natty with the core of Saban's players (even though he landed back-asswards into it). He had one more truly great team but laid a stinker in the Sugar Bowl so karma kinda balances out.

I really think that is Alabama's most likely decade after Saban. Essentially just a recapitulation of what happened in Baton Rouge in the decade after he left for Miami.

Josh actually played at Alabama under Stallings and Homer Smith.

IDK about being able to fill Nick Saban’s shoes, but he’d have the biggest head coaching guns in the conference.

Can you imagine this hair tho

You never really know how good your hire is until you're 2 or 3 years into it.

Nix and Kitchens were on the same team? I never knew that. And they are both about my age.

Maybe... but all the people associated with those hires are long gone. I still remember Drummond whining in the Birmingham News about the Saban hire back in 2007.

It's going to take a few years for Bama to see any kind of decline once Saban retires.

THIS. But keep in mind, Miles had to compete with Saban. The next guy that comes along would not be competing with him. It's not going to be as rapid of a fall as Bama had after Bear.
